Oh dear. But how can that be nasty? Don't they want to meet their deity?
Well, it may be nasty for those of us who suspect or know there's no heaven (or hell).

His son, Nate Phelps, put out a great statement about his father's death: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyath...ers-death/
Nate is a good compassionate man, unlike his father.

My only wish would that he'd lasted just long enough to see gay marriage be legalized in all 50 states.
Quote: I ask this of everyone — let his death mean something. Let every mention of his name and of his church be a constant reminder of the tremendous good we are all capable of doing in our communities. Unfortunately his name and that of the WBC will always be synonymous with religious intolerance and hatred.

Atheist Forums Hall of Shame:
"The trinity can be equated to having your cake and eating it too." ... -Lucent, trying to defend the Trinity concept "(Yahweh's) actions are good because (Yahweh) is the ultimate standard of goodness. That’s not begging the question" ... -Statler Waldorf, Christian apologist
Yep, he sure opened everyone's eyes, didn't he?

The best related quotation i've seen so far is from Kevin Smith of Jay and Silent Bob fame..
"Because of my flick RED STATE and my various run-ins with the Phelps family, folks have been asking me what I think of the death of Fred Phelps. I'd say it's akin to how I felt about the life of Mr. Phelps: I'm sad for his family. " |
