The purpose of telling you all this is to let you know that Islam is a universal religion. It was sent for the whole humanity not for one creed or community. It asks us to bind together with non Muslims peacefully in the society and preach them the true way.But if they don’t accept to embrace Islam , we have no right on their lives whatsoever. Only if they engage in a war with us are we ordered to 'defend' ourselves.

Might be a little bit off topic but what happens to atheists when they die?

If you are asking Islamic opinion , then here's what happens to them
( according to Quranic teachings). All nonbelievers of Islam will be judged on the Doom's Day. They will asked that Allah had sent the messenger on earth to show you the right way then why did you not follow the right path ? According to our teachings , he will be shown the way to Hell. When they die , in their graves they are given punishment too.
( in the state of ' Barzakh'

How about not preaching anything, and leaving everyone who doesn't espouse your religion the hell alone?

Look brother ! We are required to preach the good to the people only. Now here's the limit to that preaching too according to this verse Let there be no compulsion in religion . So , we dont have to force someone to embrace Islam . Doing so would definitely mean disregarding the teachings of Allah and disobeying Him for which one must pay in Hereafter.

Tor !

Ever since Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sent with the Message, all people who do not believe that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is God's Messenger to all humanity are classified as unbelievers with respect how they are categorized in matters pertaining to this worldly life. This applies to the people of the Scripture – in other words, Jews and Christians – as well as to people who belong to other faith traditions.

As for the fate of particular individuals ( and ofcourse You ) in the Hereafter, that is entirely up to Allah to decide. Allah will judge each individual according to His knowledge and wisdom.

It is a tenet of faith adhered to by all Sunni Muslims that no particular individual is ever to be declared a denizen of Heaven or of Hell except for those few explicitly named individuals whose fates are stated in the text of the Qur'an or in the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

For instance, we know about the ten Companions whom the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave glad tidings of their being admitted into Heaven. We also know that Abu Lahab will be in Hell, since the Qur'an informs us of his fate.

Most important of all , And Allah knows best.

Alright. Definitely as we are told in Quran that the fate of Muslims will be entirely different from those of non believers. Those we believe in Allah and His Prophet and obey His commands are given glad tidings of a peaceful and luxurious life in Hereafter.( They will be permitted to Heaven on basis of their good deeds which is a place no one would ever have seen at all and they would live their lives their for evermore). But here again you must not be misled. Even Muslims will be accountable for every iota of deed to Allah.Good and Bad deeds will be judged accordingly. For every bad deed , they will have to suffer punishment both in their graves and when they will be called on Doom's Day.Just being a Muslim would not mean that they can go to Heaven. That would be unfair ofcourse. Hence Islam is a beautiful religion which is balanced and judgmental in the right way.

Tor ! I see that you are worried about the Hereafter life. We all are. We all Muslims are told to fear the afterlife. So that being in this world we constantly remind ourselves that this world is not permanent. There is another world where we have to go. Why don't you go and sit in Masjid for a day or two ? And observe and understand yourself that why they are doing the way they are doing ? Try observing Salat ? P.S. A word to mention ! If you want to study Islam , remember don't rely on Muslims but rather look for your answers in Quran and Sunnah. Do you mean all Muslims are worried about the Hereafter, or do you men all people?

I most certainly am not. I'm sorry that you do - what a miserable way to live.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Ah, dawah. I just love it as it is the pinnacle of presuppositionalist argumentation and intellectual dishonesty. You presume you have the correct religion and measure any belief or lack their of to an unjustified absolute.
Tor is not worried about the dunya since he is already content that his life is plentiful till the day he dies. Many individuals are like this as is the nature of kuffar. I myself cannot wait to enter Jahannam because I know that it will be splendid because suffering is the absolute objective of any selfless worshiper of a god. So how about me and you discuss fiqh and akida so we can see whose god trumps whose.

Mohammed said that he didn't know if he was going to paradise himself. Therefore it seems that he might have crossed the line when he blabbed about how other people will go to paradise or to hell.

Don't take it personally, everyone goes to hell according to the quran.

http://quran.com/19/71-72

Now all the muslims need do is figure out if the quran is the word of god or the word of satan and they're all been deceived and condemned to hell by him.
