Theists tend to have the misconception that a lack of belief in their deity would make them unhappy and give them license to become serial killers. Lets not forget that religious belief is not a guarantee toward happiness and that belief is not a deterrent for bad behavior, which many theists prove on a daily basis. It is merely their misguided assumptions about atheism that make them think it would be harder to be a non-theist, because the comfortable thought that one is ensured a pleasant afterlife also keeps them ignorantly tethered to their beliefs.

oh yea that makes lots of sense. atheism requires a brain whereas religion requires a rule book to be followed blindly...

it isn't in our nature to think of a God, it is in our nature to seek answers and the concept of God is most influenced in this world.

I didn't find one to be any more difficult than the other. It's not as if religion is the only responsibility that people have in their lives and that life becomes magically more easy or difficult one way or another. Maybe because the JWs believe that death is final and that there is no hell to scare people with, I never had that burden and therefore religion was not "scary." So my life after religion is very similar to my life during.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

It's not hard to be an atheist, other than putting up with religious intolerance. And the best part is that you get to sleep in on Sundays.
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

I think it's easier to be an atheist because there is no need to feel ashamed of thoughts when big brother is reading them. Don't need to fear hell either.
