If you could just go ahead and elaborate on what you believe the Bible is and what it means to you, that would be great.
You stated you did not know the difference between a collection of stories and a collection of different literary works comprising upwards of ten different genres.
The majority of the new testament's 27 works are letters of correspondence in which the letter writer intends to encourage and exhort his friends in the midst of hard times. To encourage them to love one another and practice virtuous living in the midst of persecution in a pagan Roman Empire. Sometimes the correspondence is person to person, most often it is from one person to a group of people. So these letters are not stories. That is my point.

So, you only follow the New Testament, then? And there are stories in there. Without even cracking my Bible I can think of quite a few off the top of my head. The parables, especially. You can call it letters of correspondence, but they are stories.
Again, if you could just go ahead and describe what the Bible means to you and why you follow it, that would be great.

I agree. it would be a story of fairy tales if this was the case The Garden of Eden, Adam, the flood story even the reed basket Moses was pulled from the Nile in are adaptations of earlier Mesopotamian fables. Exodus as written in the Bible never happened. Neither did Joshua’s conquest of Canaan. Much of what is contained in Proverbs was taken from Egyptian history.
Yahweh began as just another minor member of the Mesopotamian Parthenon. The Jewish people were polytheistic until at least the 4th century BC. There is evidence to support this both within the pages of the Old Testament and the Elephantine Papyri. Archeology tells us the Yahweh figure even had a mother figure consort well after the time most Christians claim the Jews were fully monotheistic.
El elyon, one of the names for God listed in the Old Testament was the high God in Ugarit.

Stating that the majority of the new testament consists of letters of correspondence does not mean I only follow the new testament.
I think you need to open your Bible and read these letters I am referring to.

I will when you answer my questions.
What does the Bible mean to you? Why do you choose to follow it over all other religious texts?

Starting with your first sentence, I want you to substantiate it with sound reason and evidence. After you are done with that, substantiate the rest of what you said. Then post it.

Okay. I want to expound on this.
Did this relationship happen before or after you read the Bible?
How does this relationship work?

After. Okay. So which parts of the Bible made you a believer after reading them? I ask because I've read the Bible, too, and it had the opposite effect on me.
As for your person relationship working as any other relationship, I have to disagree. Other relationships comprise of regular people with corporeal bodies. How does a relationship with a deity work?
