Are you sure you are not over eating there Daniel?
Yes pretty sure. It's not cooked in oil (the only added oil is in the scrambled egg), the bread isn't buttered and there's no sauce. If I didn't have sausages I'd have a small amount of tomato sauce instead.

It's a recognized medical condition.

Please explain how a fit and healthy person who takes great care as to what they eat ends up with Type2 Diabetes?

I don't know.

But at a guess it's something to do with visceral fat or blood pressure or over-consumption of sugar all of which could be invisible to the patient and go undiagnosed.
Quote:No it's not a "horrible" disease Daniel, it's just fucking inconvenient.
Well short of being terminal I see it as pretty horrible in the long-term effects that it can have.
Quote:Sorry Daniel. But you seem very naive as to what your body wants and needs and how to convey that information. You really are new to this whole body awareness thingy aren't you?

You have not got a fucking clue how to live unless some "master" dictates the rules to you and then claim an 'epiphany' when you find what actually works for you.

Personally I think you eat way to much for some one who is not working at a physical job. I do far more on far less calories (kilojoules) than you and I don't have a 'job' nor do I think my tasks are physical. Shit man! Zen does much more physical work than you and eats far less.

You really are a glutton aren't you?
A 600 calorie meal is not too much - in fact, in the mushrooms and tomato there's 43 calories total and that makes up 1/3rd of the plate. Hell here's the count:

Calories:
Tomato - 22
1/3rd Onion - 15
2x Eggs - 141
Bacon - 86
Pork Sausages - 160
Bread - 70
160g mushroom - 21
Oil (in the scrambled egg) - 81
Milk (in the scrambled egg) - 7
Soy source (in the onion) - 3
Total: 606 calories.

There's no sauce, it's not cooked in oil and there's no no cheese!

You say I eat too much - I just calculated the total number of calories I had today: approx. 1669 calories. Granted I did have quite a light dinner and so it's a low cal day today, but I didn't skip any meals. Pfft, as if I eat too much! Now I expect you'll tell me I in fact don't eat enough!

Daniel, you can live your silly Orthorexia lifestyle and I can assure you ...you are terminal, you will die, slowly, painfully, inexorably.... from a disease you were never ready for

Very nice dear and how many of these 600 calorie / kilojoule meals do you have a day?

My point is that you seem to eat way more than Zen and I do. Zen is in a very physical job, me? I'm what you might consider sedentary. We don't eat much between us but we eat quality.

You are saying that the above is your typical breakfast? My uncle used to eat like that (he was a Plumber) ...died @ 45 from pancreatic cancer...healthy and fit otherwise. Go figure. No excessive sugar intake or 'visceral fat' on him. The other uncle has had lung and throat cancer, diabetes, stroke, heart surgery, and Liver cancer.... Ate well (like you) was a fit Life Saver and Master Carpenter, never smoked nor drank alcohol... he is still alive (if you can call it that)

I sure as hell couldn't eat all that food in one sitting.

Unless I hadn't eaten in a day and was stoned.

Hehe

Same here... IF THAT was placed before me first thing in the morning I think I would throw up! So greasy and fatty! Blearg!

My 2¢ as a resident of Pudgetown:

1.) I do realize that getting depressed and not eating a week at a time isn't healthy

2.) Hydrocephalia causes a build up of water weight so I will probably always be ever so slightly chub

3.) the town I live in isn't properly accessible to the physically disabled (hell, TN in general isn't accessible to the disabled) so although I can't go out as much as I'd like I DO exercise

4.) I actually do eat healthy foods. (I'm not sure why there is this idea that all overweight people are simply lying around stuffing junk into our mouths. I love veggies!)

5.) while I do lose weight easily, I will NEVER be tiny (I have a naturally curvy figure). At most I'll be a size 8/10. Currently a 12/14.

Define "like that"? The portion size of meat in my breakfast meal is correct, the large amount of mushrooms and the tomato add very few calories between them (as I said 43 calories), and none of it is cooked in oil.

FYI I've changed my scrambled egg recipe and now only use 1tbs oil which is 40 calories.

If you cook yourself a fried breakfast you can easily go to 1200 calories or more, it's not the type of meal that it is that makes it healthy or unhealthy, it's what it is precisely in it that determines that!

At the moment breakfast is my largest meal in calories and certainly in volume.

"That"is a very large breakfast for both Zen and me. We couldn't eat it every day, and is our "brunchfast" meal for a Sunday morning.

So, IF that is your main meal of the day Daniel, what do you have for lunch and dinner?

Today I had two slices of toast for lunch and I'll probably have a stir-fry for dinner with rice. And then I was playing cards with my family and had a few rice crackers with dip as a snack.

The meal is large in volume, but not in any way excessive in calories, and it's the latter that matters in weight maintenance.

Easiest way not to get fat? Eat what you want, eat it slowly and enjoy every mouthful, then stop eating as soon as you're full. That's eat. Eat pizza, chips, burgers, curries, cakes, cookies, Chinese food, whatever you want. Just stop when full. Simple as that.
Except it's not really as simple as it sounds when we're all brainwashed when it comes to food. Adverts for unhealthy foods all over the place, more adverts for diets which shame you for even looking at the other adverts. Then you might have been shamed into clearing your plate at meal times by parents who wouldn't let you leave the table until you'd finished your dinner, or told you you were somehow disrespecting starving children in Africa by not eating all your food. As a result of all this people can easily develop a tendency to eat past the point when they are full. Especially when it's something unhealthy and your obsession with good food vs bad food causes you to binge and possibly eat a whole pizza when you were actually full after the first slice. A bulemic person would purge after such a binge, but others will just sit there feeling guilty and wonder why they did it, or even come up with excuses for it.

While that is a good habit, and one that I do share, it isn't as simple as that. If you eat high fat, high sugar meals you get full after consuming too many calories. That's why a portion of your plate should be fruit & veg, since it's filling without adding too many calories.

Not entirely accurate - a bulimic person will also wonder why they did it, feel disgusted with themselves, and then make themselves throw up.
