I know an ex-atheists who now says he's a Taoist. He'd practiced all kinds of martial arts for years, practiced meditation for years, and said "he's seen and experienced" some freaky stuff.

Besides that, I'd say he was a "real" atheist, meaning with a scientific world-view/otherwise free of superstition. I still respect the dude, but he'll talk about Kundalini until your head explodes lol

One. I knew her for a while online, and from her postings, she seemed atheist through and through. But then she said she had some kind of "personal experience", something she didn't really want to talk about, and said that started believing there was something out there. She admitted she had no evidence, only her own personal feelings on the matter. So, it happens. I don't think it happens often, but it happens. I mean, she didn't convert to Christianity, or anything like that, but I think she's a deist now.

Yes, two friends of mine. One felt drawn to Islam and the other to Christianity.

They both led deeply troubling childhoods and took to a life of drugs etc.

CS Lewis converted to Christianity from atheism. His tales of how he came to faith is pretty interesting. Dare I say, convincing?

But, you have to be searching for a god -- a god certainly won't find you. The mind is a powerful thing, creating a god where there once was none.

I've never personally known atheists who have become theists.

I've known a number of theists who have CLAIMED to have once been atheists. They're the ones who usually make up bullshit stories about what they did and thought when they were atheists.
