We used to, but so many of the theists here completely ignored it that enforcement would lead to 95% of them being banned, and the forum would be dull if it didn't have any superstitious punching bags.

We may no longer have our preaching rule, but we do have rule one: persistent bible bashing would still be a breach of our first rule, and yes, we are aware of this thread.

Funny thing about 'today' - from where I'm sitting it's already your tomorrow. At least one of us is going to be disappointed.

And if "God" does indeed know our heart, then it will also know what it would take to convince me. Maybe it wants me to think it doesn't exist? It's doing a damn fine job of it so far.

Yeah, that's another thing. If this god knew you before you were born, and knows you better than anyone else, then it knows exactly what it needs to do to convert you. If he really wants a relationship and worship, and knows that many atheists just need a bit of indisputable concrete evidence, then the ball is in his court.

Of course there are atheists like me who wouldn't worship the creature as described in the bible, even if he was proven real, but first prove him real. Then we can talk about all these other disparaging things. One step at a time.

A rule against preaching? Once upon a time, but who are we to deny the ramblings of the inane? We can handle a bit of fire and brimstone when said fire is imaginary.

It appears that there are several people on this board who want me to go away. I enjoy this board and would like to stay. Since beginning to post the Lord graciously has place love in my heart to those to deny Him. People say I am preaching but I am sharing with you what I find to be true, what I believe, what I live for, and a desire to share this with those who reject the notion of God. People want evidence but I can't come up with a mathematical formula to prove God. I know He lives because He lives in me.

All in all, I want to abide by the rules of the forum. I am not here to be an irritant. The insults towards me are fine, call me anything you wish. You can think I am a simpleton, deluded, crazy, irrational, unreasonable, or fill in the blank. I humbly request that you not insult my Lord, direct your ire at me instead. If I not know who you and were to insult one of your family members because you don't agree with how I am describing them would that be fair? You don't have to believe me or agree with me and that is ok. If you guys banish me from the board then so be it, I'm sure any one of you have violated a rule at one time but because you are of the same mindset it is overlooked. Because I am a believer I am under scrutiny. But until then I feel lead to remain here, have intellectual discussion, pray for you, and abide by the rules of the forum. Thank you for hearing me out.

We can't direct "our ire" at your Lord because there's no evidence that he exists. Don't worry, those here that are upset are absolutely upset at the correct (and demonstrably real) person.

Any time you go to a place where people don't share your views, and tlk to them about stuff that they may not want to hear, some of them are going to just prefer that you go away. Though as long as you're civil, others of us aren't going to mind. I would imagine it is hard to convert an adult atheist that isn't currently in some emotionally vulnerable state, but maybe you'll get lucky. Or maybe you could convert another already religious person to your cause.

As for insulting Yahweh, anything short of fanatical worship seems to be an insult to him. Not that I believe he's real, but a big reason I have for my disbelief in him is just that I think he would be a horrible person if he did exist. I'm sorry if it's insulting, but his views as stated in the bible just don't meet up with modern views, and his claims of being ultimate love, justice, and mercy fall short of my definition of those ideas. Just mentioning that there were older stories of creator gods and messiahs being born of virgins would probably be considered insulting to Yahweh.

Okay, well, first of all, in terms of content, this is an improvement: this at least something that can be discussed.

Second, we aren't after mathematical formulas; math and strict science aren't the only ways one proves something anyway. We are, however, looking for something more than "it is my opinion that god exists, and I know that this is true because I feel it." The kind of evidence that exists in your mind, personal revelation, is cheap: every adherent of every religion that there has ever been has used that.

We can't examine your experiences. Why would they be enough for us, any more than a muslim's testimony of their experience with Allah would be enough for you?

If you are just going to go on mindlessly spouting your daft theology, then yes, I would like you to just go away. There is nothing to be gained for either of us.

Well, it makes me feel alot smarter, and we can point and laugh. The no preaching rule was abolished due to an evident blind spot on the staff's hability to make a correct judgement. If one is only here to spout bible gibberish, without speaking his mind, or try to sell heavenly carpet cleaning, we will intervene. Else is fair game, restricted by the other rules.
