Whiny Xtian on the new Noah movie
So, scrolling my Facebook newsfeed, I saw that my mother had shared this article about the Noah movie. I kept thinking, "Now, why wouldn't a Xtian want to see this?" Then I wasted a few brain cells, I mean read this: http://coercioncode.com/2014/03/26/say-n...oah-movie/
Don’t ask.

RE: Whiny Xtian on the new Noah movie
Quote:Aronofsky is not interested in the Biblical record, fossil record, or hundreds of cultural records that testify to the Flood being a true event. He summed up his view of the Biblical account like this: “I don’t think it’s a very religious story, I think it’s a great fable that’s part of so many different religions and spiritual practices. I just think it’s a great story that’s never been on film.”

I see no problem with his interpretation, because it is a basic humanities view. Ancient mythologies are considered classic literature, though I would not go so far as to place any biblical fable in the same category, and I think it is better to understand the flood story as merely a reflection of the primitive mindset at the time and centered more around a cultural origin story than actual fact.

Well...I finally did see the fucking thing...downloaded off a Torrent site...sure as shit not going to a movie to see it.

I can see why the xtians are whining. It was far from the over-acted, devotional shit they claim to like - (think: The Ten Commandments). In fact, it bore almost no relation to the story and could easily have included a few car chases and explosions and wouldn't have seemed any more silly than what they came up with. "Noah" who could have just as easily been named "Pete", is hardly a righteous man. In fact, he was a murdering fuckhead with some rock monsters - similar to the rock monsters in Galaxy Quest for that matter - to help him out.

That being the case anything that pisses off religious fucks should get an academy award.

The question is, should we watch it for entertainment value? Or is it just going to be two hours I of my life I want back?

I watched it last night and wondered why I didn't just go to bed instead.

I can't see any value to it except the joy of pissing off fundies who can't handle any deviation from their horseshit.

As for Russel Crowe.... his performance is worse than his wooden appearance in Les Miz. At least he didn't sing.

I don't even have to see it for fundies to get pissed off. Sweet.

Yeah, Russ is not my favorite actor. Pretty much every movie I've seen him in would be better with someone else in the role. I must be in the minority though.
