Of course, not. They genuinely, mistakenly, believe that they are saving your soul. The loving comments they impart are nothing more than hate disguised by the cloak of love.

People can say and do the most hurtful things to one another because they are convinced that it is for "your own good" and that they are motivated by love.
Misplaced guilt is one of the commonly-used tools of religion, and causes untold suffering to lots of people. And it's all for nothing. A net loss in the greater scheme of things. That's terribly sad.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

\m/ at my sisters funeral the pastor implied it was my parents fault. he pretty much said, "if you were closer to god, she'd be alive." You think what you heard was bad?

I would so punch the pastor. Seriously.

Your aunt is the problem not god.
Based on your response about God fucking you, I suspect you had a large part in the break up. The word "irrational" is the first word that pops up. Then the words "did fall far from the tree" came up but I am not sure if your aunt is your mom/dad's sister.
if blaming "No-god" helps you, go for it. But when it becomes ranting it becomes self defeating.
But you have the chance to stop this cycle.
Good luck.
Wow are you a sanctimonious prick! Incredible!

At my friend's funeral the priest spent the entire time comparing him to Judas Iscariot, since they both killed themselves. He didn't even know my friend, who was an atheist, and he readily admitted so at the beginning. He then rambled on about how Judas hung himself.
It was a not-so-thinly veiled way of saying, "Your friend burns in hell" and was the most despicable, disrespectful thing inspired by religion that I've ever been privy to personally.

That's terrible. Only a horrible person would say something like that.

Personally I think responding with hatred prolongs the suffering. You're only hurting yourself. That being said, there's nothing wrong with anger, let it out. If you are strong enough to be the bigger person, which it seems you are, you win. You go girl

Holy hell if I had a family member say anything like that to me there is no way I would be able to keep myself from completely losing my mind on them. That is a completely ignorant way to think and for them to impose that on me about a situation like that would absolutely set me off.

I've decided not to respond at all. It honestly hurts my feelings more than it angers me. I'm not dumb enough to think I could change her mind, so responding in any ways will only succeed at hurting my feelings even more.
Thanks to everyone for making me feel better though
