Do you have any evidence that there is 'something' after we die? The evidence is that mind requires brain. Brain dies, mind is gone.
Quote:Now lets talk about defining something none of us know with stuff most of us know. It is not about right and wrong. It is only about using what we know to talk about what we don't know.
Would that be to your liking?
Yes, it is about what we know. You don't know anything about 'after death'.
lmao, so neither do you. That means "afterlife" as they teach is equally valid your stance asshole. I see two people that don't know shit trying to answer.
There is nothing after we die? think about that. you can't be that stupid. the universe does not stop when you die. I offer my dead dad as proof the universe kept going.
would you like to offer any evidence that the universe stops when you die. Its stops for you as you are now. But what are you. You clearly do not have enough background information to even talk about it. I am basing that statement your clearly limited answer from above.
We need to address what you are. Do you understand that matter is really frozen energy? you are not a thing, you are an event. If you mock that statement it only proves what you don't know.
can the universe store "the past you" in it's "present state" after the information that was you stops being you? the answer is yes stupid. Again, if you claim "rant" it only shows that you need to stfu on the topic.
now would you like to clarify that you really mean "what those stupid ass people religions are teaching." hate hate hate religous people. , all them all them not me not me not I dont fuk up at all .... or would you like to continue to look stupid.

Go fuck yourself. Try having a discussion instead of your childish ranting.
The question is 'what happens to you when you die'. Not 'what happens to the universe'. All the evidence indicates that our consciousness is brain-based, there is no evidence otherwise.
Where is the universe going to 'store' this state? You are blowing smoke out of your ass.

What do you believe I believe?
And what exactly is the point of asking this question? I can only a surmise from the manner of discourse in your previous posts that this is nothing more than a thinly-veiled appeal to consequence.

In reading through this thread, I'm reminded of my days following Christianity, and I think religion promotes a fear of death. I mean, if you sucked during your 'earth life,' you might burn for all eternity in a torturous pit called 'hell.' As a Christian, you hang your head low a lot, and feel unworthy of an almighty God; you feel undeserving of a place called 'heaven.' Doesn't the thought of death as a Christian, sound so wonderful? lol
So a fear of death in general, sets in. It's funny, since leaving religion behind, I no longer fear death. What people should fear, is wasting a life while they still have it to live. Worrying about an after life robs you from the here and now. Makes you fearful of death, which you have no control over. Death will find us all someday, and so it's important to live life to the fullest, and stop fearing things we don't know, or can't control.
But, to me, that's where a lot of this obession about the after life comes in for religious people. The ''hope'' in an after life helps religious people deal with what they can't control, which is death.
That's kind of how I've come to view it, both as a Christian, and now...as an atheist.

To answer the question....
I don't "believe anything" and I have no idea what will happen to the bit that I identify as "me". Since I was long "dead" for nigh on 13.5 billion years before I was born and never felt a thing I think it would be safe to assume that the same thing will happen when I die.
Body might be a bloody nuisance to clean up and dispose of though.

It promotes an inordinately huge reward/punishment system where you start off on the "debit" side of the ledger and cannot ever feel as if you've moved to the "credit" side of it. Christians believe that we cannot ever do enough to deserve the reward and since the payout is either/or, you must spend this life on a treadmill, where you must keep running towards the reward or risk falling back into the punishment.
The only possible value that this life has is in finishing on the right side of that dividing line. It doesn't matter how you accomplish this; just get the reward and you can spend all of eternity in pure bliss. Makes you wonder why so many Christians seem to spend so much time in anything other than purely Christian pursuits. The reward is so disproportionate to the effort that you'd expect them to spend all day in a room praying fervently and only ever stepping outside to offer up their cheeks for slapping.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I believe that all of our souls will get caught in a gigantic, cosmic colander. The souls that don't have enough substance will slip through the holes and rinse down the drain with the other weak souls and a bunch of near-boiling water. The good souls that remain will be put back in the pot, and mixed with sauce and meat balls. From there, we will become one with His Noodlyness.
That, or my bodily functions will cease, as will my ability to care about the issue, since I'll be dead.
