My take on Christianity - Judaism - Islam
April 13, 2014 at 7:21 pm
(This post was last modified: April 13, 2014 at 7:23 pm by Mystic.)
From what I understand, what unites these faiths the most is the belief in an intervening God who is unique and has no equals. The Christian doctrine can be said to contradict this, but, in theory, they believe in One God.
They each believe God sent Messengers to humanity through out time. They each believe they have that message that is the message that God wants us to follow. They each believe that God will establish justice through a person.
What I see is essentially these religions agree upon the core beliefs, and their structure is similar. They pray to God, believe he helps those who pray to him, emphasized on doing good, etc.
Now the two questions - is - why - I mean by this, what is the exact reason - you believe other religions could of been made up (like Bahais) but not yours without denying there is Messengers and God intervenes. The 2nd, is what makes you think other religions have been corrupted and have no book that is perfectly reliable, but you do.
I think that experience takes a subjective experience. I think it's hard to prove religion objectively. I think these religions would do well also to have dialogue and share their scriptural beauty.
Talking to some Christians, they find the Quran not as beautiful as the Bible. I have the opposite experience and find the Quran more beautiful then the Bible.
How do we leave the subjective experience to believing into an objective experience?

The more important question is why should anyone even consider any of them. And, why the hell does this god in all 3 of them never dare to show himself.
PM me if you know where this is from "...knees in the breeze" and don't look it up!!

Mystic, usually all we get are clues.
You could call it "Circumstantial evidence".
From there we begin.
For me, I went from subjective to objective via a supernatural encounter when I took the pardon Jesus paid for.
By the way, all of the world's religions, except one, are systems of performance (even Satanisim), whereby the adherent believes his good works outweigh his bad.
The foundation of Christianity is we must take the free gift of Redemption which God Himself paid for. All our works (performance) are as menstruating rags.
I am glad you are pursuing thoughts along these lines.

And, I'm going to live my life according to hero pattern so that people look back and question whether I even existed or was I just another myth so their faith can decrease and when it diminishes I can send them to hell for committing a sin that I died to prevent them from going to hell for.

Oh, I forgot you wanted to know why one book is retained and the others rejected?
For me, I did what the Bible said.
I prayed to the God of Heaven- "Our Father...."
I prayed a prayer of repentance. I surrendered.
I felt like I was on a tree branch sawing it off at the trunk.
Woke up 8 hours later without the awareness of sleeping and had an innate knowledge that I knew, that I knew, God was real.
I was born from above.
Previous to this, I laid out all the myriad religions and systems of belief in my mind as a giant mosaic, and because they are contrary to one another- one and only one is the truth and all the rest are lies and shades of lies.
As time has gone by, more learning and more experiences have deepened my absolute confidence in the wisdom of that decision long ago.
Whatever book is contrary to the Bible is a lie.
For me, it is that simple.

And that's something I have only heard from theirsts, never atheists. "If you provide evidence contrary to my book or beliefs, even if that evidence is 100% accurate, I'll continue to believe my book."
Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:
"You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???"

Mystical they are just as sure they are right as you are sure you are right. Bunch of subjective experiences.

Funny I pleaded again and again to god to give me a sign and restore my faith. I didn't like the transition to atheism it was outside of my comfort zone, I was in denial for a long time and asked god repeatedly to guide me. The response god gave me was his absence so that's what I believed, his absence. I believed in god's response to me.
