Onward Christian Sol... Rapists?

(April 20, 2014 at 9:34 pm)Sid Wrote: Sorry for the delay folks I had a beautiful Easter dinner with my friends and family. Jesus has risen! Purely outstanding! Perhaps I am completely naive as this is my first atheist forum, but I don't really understand the outward name calling. Is it customary on this site to make wild assertions of a persons character or purpose? Should I, in return, be as offensive to sound or appear to have more conviction? Folks, unless you haven't learned yet, just because your louder, angrier, aggressive, or treating, doesn't make you right. I've sat through too many conferences, meetings, or events to be swayed by other's agendas. No matter how passionate!

What is so promising or what is the compelling benefit a person would gain from being an atheist? Why am I inferior and you are superior?

Do you even remember that your first post here, your first post in this entire forum was nothing more than the heavy implication that the "average atheist" would endorse the rape of pre-pubescent girls in your view?

You want to talk about making "wild assertions of a person's character or purpose," you motherfucker? You want to talk about being offensive? You were the one who started out throwing shit, don't you dare act surprised when the people here, the people whose community you've entered into of your own free will and decided to besmirch for absolutely no reason other than that we dared believe something different to you without ever having met you before, get offended and angry at your absolutely outrageous comments. The fact that we've all heard them before, that they're just one more in a long line of hurtful stereotypes trotted out by your kind made to marginalize and diminish us, is only the beginning of why you deserve what you're getting.

Quote: Yes, I most assuredly pointed out that man is flawed and when left to their own devices have tendencies towards sin, or amoral behaviors. I NEVER made any such claim you had to believe in God to discern right from wrong.

So, your next bet is to outright lie to us? If you didn't think you needed god to discern right from wrong, then what was even the point of acting all confused as to why we weren't all down with raping kids?

Quote: Nonetheless, I posted because, yet again, a story regarding a religious cult gone wrong points the finger of hate toward any and all religion.

Your standard No True Scotsman fallacy. Rolleyes

Quote: But let me point out the fact that many more atrocities are carried out in secular society, go ahead and do your diligence on public school systems, impoverished countries with rogue governments, crime ridden pockets of cartels and human trafficking, and you will find countless examples of Godless people doing much worse and on a grander scale.

No you won't: the polls tend to indicate that the prisons, at least in America, are filled with the religious. And you don't see many secular witch hunts and cults, just saying. Dodgy

Quote: Am I ashamed of Churches with scandals, cover ups, and less than impressive apologies, of course. That's inexcusable. But that's not what Jesus stood for. Humans are flawed. I follow Jesus. not you, not any of you, we have proven ourselves unworthy to follow!

Jesus stood for favoring the Israelites over anyone else in the world, continuing slavery, and beating people with whips. Are you following all that, or am I going to get more nonsense about context from you? Dodgy

No, you just implied it with all the subtlety of a priest slipping it to an altar boy, you dishonest sack of Catholic shit.

You honestly believe that you are the one being ridiculed here. Your the one who first implied that the "average atheist" would be down for a group rape of girls that haven't seen middle school yet.

Further more, your an asshole.

Replace the pre-pubescent girls with pre-pubescent boys, and isn't this called "a good night out" to the average Catholic?

You lose all credibility saying this while openly affiliated with a religion that has a decades-long history of covering up sexual abuse of minors. Did you mean "a good night out for the average catholic"?

Theists seem to be under the misconception that a few bad seeds does not mean the entire fruit is corrupted.

If you consider about 4000 priests protected by the entire organization to be "a few"

Quote:In a statement read out by Archbishop Silvano Maria Tomasi in September 2009, the Holy See stated "We know now that in the last 50 years somewhere between 1.5% and 5% of the Catholic clergy has been involved in sexual abuse cases", adding that this figure was comparable with that of other groups and denominations.[4]

"It's ok Timmy, this is just the norm! Other denominations like child rape too."

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Cat...by_country

But wait, that's a low estimate:

Quote:The report determined that, during the period from 1950 to 2002, a total of 10,667 individuals had made allegations of child sexual abuse. Of these, the dioceses had been able to substantiate 6,700 accusations against 4,392 priests in the USA, about 4% of all 109,694 priests who served during the time covered by the study.[2] Roughly 4% of the priests were accused, therefore.
