I understand it as the separation of religion from the state, and I believe Islam was sent to end religion, but people make a new religion. Just my opinion.

Now that...is an interesting reading of the quran! Could you elaborate upon why you interpreted it this way? Perhaps a surah or two or three? You've been invited, don't worry about preaching (I'm sure you can talk about the quran or any particular surah without preaching anyway).
