If I must imagine a hell as I must also imagine a god's existence, then I suppose there could be no worse hell than that which we create for ourselves on earth. The hell we create from life itself is enough without having to imagine that there is one after life as well.
Until such proof can be provided to me, whereby I do not have to pull the veil of blind belief over my mind, then it is more logical to continue in my understanding that god and hell do not exist except in the sadly deluded minds of men.
Compliance through fear, after all, is hardly a worthy notion of engendering believers.

Therefore he allows you to not believe in him and choose eternal damnation. God is all loving, he hates to see his children go to hell, yet for us to truly feel any happiness evil must exist and we must be allowed to choose it over good. Otherwise we would be mindless robots, not capable of joy or sadness. God gave us the greatest gift imaginable, use it as you will. And please choose God's free love gift.
If there is a god, why would he gift me with the intellect to reason he doesn't exist.
You'd think he would be a bit smarter, being a god an all that.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

All we have right now is the bible, which shows that the deity is evil. Which is why people still worship out of fear.
So if God appeared to you you would worship him?

No. I would, however, believe in him.

So God, knowing rational people don't believe in things that lack evidence, wants people to burn in hell? Is that part of his plan?
Doesn't seem like there's a choice involved.
It is the person's fault for be so-called "rational". And his plan includes humans doing whatever they wish to (with concequence of course).

The Greek God Apollo appeared to me in a dream. Does that mean I should regard it as evidence of Apollo's existence and start worshipping him?

Hell no. Admit I was wrong and that he does exist. Yes. We follow the evidence around here.

What gift? I wasn't referring to a gift. I was laughing at the idea of a deity who wishes us to accept him out of love and not fear and yet tells us he will burn us for eternity if we don't. With the threat of hell hanging over your head how could you accept god out if anything but fear?
Because he is love and a true believer with a relationship with him can recognize that.

He created them to be the kind of people who would need evidence to believe in something. He did force them to choose by creating them. He is all powerful and all knowing right? So he used his power to create atheists knowing full well before they were ever created that they would never believe in him because he created them to be the kind of person who wouldn't believe. He made them that way so he could get off on torturing them? Because he is all loving right?

You choose to ignore the reality that he exists.
