Anyone suffering from things they learned in the church?

RE: Anyone suffering from things they learned in the church?
Hi from the UK! Do an 'intro' thread Big Grin

I still have an uncomfortable dose of Catholic Guilt: I sometimes find myself feeling guilty for things over which I have no control or things of which I am accused, even when completely innocent. This is a direct result of having guilt beaten in to me as a child.
Sum ergo sum

I've never been married, and having sex has been pretty damn awesome up until now. Smile

All that pussy...mmm...

I think this is where religion first started messing me up. I always felt super guilty for having sexual fantasies about my neighbor's wife.

Sounds like you're all much happier since you've broken the shackles.

As a Catholic...Doubt is probably the biggest, I still feel it quite often over pretty much anything, especially when debating theology, ethics or anything of that kind; even when I'm winning.

One of the things I was told aaages ago when I first gave a pro-divorce argument in a debate with another Catholic (now in the seminary I belive) in my first year at uni was "It doesn't matter what you think is right or what you want, God doesn't give a shit what you want or what your twisted mind thinks is right. He is God, it's all about what he thinks, and he says thats evil. End of discussion"

I can still remember that word for word, and while I won the debate I now think about that pretty much every single time I have to give an opinion on anything. Am I saying that just because I want it? Is it right or do I just want it to be right because I'm selfish? Am I really just looking for ways to justify being a slut or is divorce not bad?

I've moved on a bit since then, but I still can't give an opinion on anything these days without feeling guilty or having doubts about what I've said.

So yep, dunno if that counts as harm. I'm not contemplating suicide or nuthin' Big Grin

yep,

I am suffering from recounting my days actions so I can try to be a little better tomorrow. Maybe just a nice hello to someone. Me, not being real perfect and a know it all, needs some reminders.

wish I was like the other dip shit know it-alls.

Yep. Take notes.
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a goddess, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed

You quoted Stanford. now take some engineering to see how it really works.

Your incoherent ramblings have convinced me that your brain functions the same as a lottery machine. Instead of numbers your balls contain words and you sequentially type whatever pops out next.
