To us old fashioned buggers, I find it incomprehendable!
It's just disrespecting the fairer sex...

A lady was on the ABC radio not long ago saying that she was on a tram coming home from work one day. The tram was standing room, an old lady got on and was standing in the isle. A young boy about 8 instinctively started to get up when his father sitting next to him told him to "sit down, I've paid for your seat"

It's people like this who are a true waste of oxygen...

What's wrong with these guys?! OH.. maybe they're the brothers.... the "friend-zoned" guys... the ones who have no chance of boning those hot young women... so why bother?

Some people are softer and more nurturing. Some people are stronger and more protective.

I share the same view as you, call me old fashioned but I like being like this. My mother taught me to be a gentleman to the ladies, they didn't appreciate it much when I was a teen (because those actions are seen as old fashioned and teens like modern stuff), but now it sure works with my girlfriend, she loves it. Smile stick to your values

I'm sure that's true for some. There have other though where I know quite certainly it was there boyfriends as the town I live in isn't big.

I beg to disagree, I think every woman can be beautiful. Even if its not in the conventional way. Think of it like flowers, some are sweet and others are deadly and they are all different shapes, sizes and colors. But everyone of them is beautiful even if you don't know that till you see them.

I don't think it's an issue really. It would probably depend on the circumstances. Is it an abusive relationship, or are the young ladies simply showing that they're capable of handling something that simple instead of pretending that cars are too complicated for their delicate female brains?

Anyway, I must admit that I read the post as a series of sexual metaphors, and now I need a cold shower.

What? At what point in my post did I say that some women are not beautiful?

Usually, when someone says the fairer sex, they mean softer and more gentle (read weaker and in need of protection). Women cannot be generalized into such a category because 1) most of the time we only appear to be softer and more gentle, and 2) many women are actually the strong protective type as many men are timid and gentle and looking for a strong woman to protect them. (Don't look here Confused picture me as a 1950's housewife with a kinky side)

Anyways, I wasn't talking about beauty at all. Smile

I was trying to stay out of this one and then I got masochistic and read it. I really don't care who pumps the gas as long as the arrangement makes sense to the people pulling up at the pumps.

In Oregon, we don't get to pump our own gas so it's not an issue. But we both, and now our daughter too, check the fluids, and clean the windows. Vacationing in other states you might as well toss a coin when you see us pull up to the pumps. Who pumps usually has more to do with who really needs to get to the potty than anything else. When I'm dressed to the nines, he does all the boy stuff.

My step-father and mother used to annoy the hell out of me because they took the fact that I do most of the repair and renovation work around the house as some kind of failing on my husband's part. The fact that I like doing it and he doesn't didn't seem to resonate. I drag him into the project when I need some muscle. He also runs and gets stuff. They've gotten over it.

It works for us. And it really isn't anyone elses business.
