I was raised in the African American church environment. So religion and Baptist principles are strongly encouraged. This never flowered into anything beautiful since Christianity is a crutch and hindrance for blacks more so than white. Primarily because of particular "past events" if you know what I mean. The church my parents attend is the Crenshaw Christian Center run by Frederick K.C. Price and he is one major ignoramus and con. He practically preys on Blacks and ruins them greatly.
Poverty and false hope never make anything fruitful and the goddamn ghettos always stay in shambles because of false reassurances of hope
Stop mall this crap about black and white, we are all one in whatever we do.

I never said racism was a prominent issue, I just said it makes up a small issue. Racism is near dead as of now in America. A slow and painful death.
My concern is with how culture and aspects of it such as stigmas and religion interfere.

I find Christianity too "fragile" for me. It's too easy for me to screw up and offend somebody -- and get banned.
One particular Catholic website banned me and sent me an email that said I was banned because they checked my email out and found it was connected with some porn websites -- can they even do that??? I admit I have written some "porn" (Or at least idiotic parody's of porn) on a few porn story websites. And I am a little paranoid that some of the people on the Christian websites are also members of those porn websites -- and perhaps banned me because of a recent beginning of a "story" that I posted.
It is about the second coming of Christ -- as well as Lucifer. In my story the "Christ" is not some tall white European model guy with long flowing hair -- he is black. And he is definitely not God, he doesn't necessarily have the power to work miracles (However people tell stories about miraculous things that he's done). Also he has memories of having been married when he was "Jesus", and he has a girlfriend -- Sarah. Lucifer shows up as a replacement pastor for a dying mega-church, and he wins the people over by "buying" them. He invests money for them and he makes them rich. He pays the people who work for the church absolutely outrageous amounts of money, and they are reluctant to criticize him -- no matter what he does. Of course they privately find him terrifying, but they are able to rationalize it considering how much money they are making. And of course his "ministry" becomes incredibly popular. He draws the people in -- with the promise of making them rich -- and he slowly corrupts them.

Because it's ubiquitous. Everyone does it. If you convince people it's bad, they should feel guilty, and you have the cure, you'll have them coming back to you to fix their problem forever.

And therefore no marriage ever existed so they didn't really get divorced.
The thing you'll never catch them admitting is that as much as culture is shaped by religion, religion is also shaped by culture. Two hundred years from now, people will be cherry picking different sections of the Bible than they do today to justify different behavior... just like they did hundreds of years ago. People used to use the Bible to endorse slavery. Now, those parts are quietly swept under the rug.
BTW, welcome!

Thank you. I agree with your point about masterbation. That makes sense.
I have noticed that the conservative Christians get especially worked up about masterbation, women's naked nipples, and marijuana. Is a single one of those things mentioned in the Bible? In fact it seems to me that Paul wanted women to cover their heads too. Maybe I'm wrong. I would have to go back and look.
Really they probably did me a favor by banning me. I was wasting time there. Really there are better things to do with my time.

The nipple thing comes from a combination of Jesus' comments on lust being the same as adultery, Paul's comments on women dressing modestly, and their own sexual interest in nipples (which is likely a combination of culture and any one person's particular interests). So, they have lust over nipples, lust is bad, and if the women would just do what Paul said, they wouldn't have to have these terrible women forcing lust on them.
That last part isn't an exaggeration. I've seen guys say that women must accommodate their own weaknesses by dressing modestly, because if they don't, it's not the guys fault (note, this is the same argument used when people blame rape victims). One of these guys went on to say that because men aren't sexy, the rule for modest dress doesn't apply. Apparently, sexy men can't tempt women, and gay people don't count because that's their own hangup? Holy double standard, Batman!
I have no idea where there beef against pot comes from, other than broader political concerns. At least, I've never heard much of a Biblical argument against it.

Here's a short justification that I found.

Of course it's overreaching, speculative, and based on fear of authority, but then again what Bible ideal isn't.
