I tend to only like "mainstream" rap - rap that has transcended "hip-hop-only" radio stations and made it onto top 40 pop/rock stations. As with most music I like to listen to, though, if it's fun to sing along with, fun to dance to, has a cool beat or instrumentation or other nebulously appealing quality such that I take a shine to then I'll listen to it.

I haven't come across anything I know of from that sub genre that has piqued my interest. The songs I embedded in the first post were a bit more spiritually ambiguous in theme. They might be atheist, but that still leaves a unrestricted spectrum of spirituality. Only once the fear of blasphemy is gone, you have spiritual freedom. Music, like it or not is a spiritual experience.

Slam the dick of the one who's making you listen to rap. Otherwise when your sixty and you get upset because your dick can't wake up you totally deserve it. The dick never forget, nor forgives. Underground hip hop has sort of merged with folk and punk philosophy. Like that country song I posted. Same thing goes with modern gypsy music. If you want fun dance music I highly recommend Afrobeat or Trip-Hop. There's also a resurrection of soul. Metal has sort of got back to it's psychedelic roots. Typically by the time anything hits the radio, it's been dumbed down and buttfucked by a thousand publicists and branding managers to manufacture a cheap product to a broad audience of morons and tweenagers. It stops being about expressing anything meaningful and becomes about slanging plastic discs at Walmart. Of course there are many exceptions to the rule. But the rule is the rule.
