Name me an artist who didn't get the fame

Everyone reading this knows of an underground band that didn't get as famous as they think they should of.
ADD to this thread, songs or videos you think should have been bigger than you remember but wanted to get bigger.
The Ramones are a perfect example to me. They are only known now for what we know now. But they were brilliant in their execution and lyrics.
Here are two artists who deserve far more credit then they got.

Why do you think they deserve more credit?

If you want to give musicians more credit than they earned - you might as well have a "artist welfare system" to subsidize bad sculptors, failed painters, klutzy dancers, and crappy poets...........
Ohhhhhh....
Got it....

Lets talk about ABBA then. Pretty sure many reading this, maybe including you, would say ABBA gets more credit they don't deserve.
This thread wasn't meant to masturbate over the uber famous everyone knows about. But to post songs/videos of artists whom you like but never got that big but wish they had.
I guess my question wasn't clear. No matter.
I honestly can't think of any artists who didn't get as big as I think they should have (bar your humble narrator, of course). It's kind of a kick for me to come across someone I really like but isn't terribly well known. Sort of like eating at an amazing restaurant that very few people know about.
'Fame' simply means that a lot of people know/like that particular artist, and I'm not frightfully interested in other peoples' musical tastes.
