Snakes, alligators, bear. I have all of these living near me. I'm not mindlessly defending anything, I've given reasoned responses in every reply & you're giving me back histrionics.

I just don't think you'll ever understand.

If I lived in an area like that I too would be tooled up and wearing bite proof trousers at all times.

This girl on the other hand was throwing down some lead using a military automatic weapon in the equivalent of Macdonalds at nine years old.

Madness.

We always learn the wrong lesson. Gun nuts refuse to learn that guns are more of a danger to themselves and families than any "criminal."

Look through the "All Hail The Second Amendment" thread for numerous examples of idiots shooting themselves or others.

Horseshit. There won't be any debate here in Gun Nut Central.

Quote: Arizona has long had a strong pro-gun culture, including weapon ranges that promote events for children and families. Some of these ranges offer people the thrill of firing weapons such as the Uzi that are heavily restricted and cannot easily be obtained by members of the public.

The Scottsdale Gun Club in recent years has allowed children and families to pose with Santa Claus while holding machine guns and other weapons from the club. Children as young as 10 are allowed to hunt big game such as elk and deer in Arizona, provided they have completed a hunter safety course.

In the fate of this instructor, I am gratified to see that natural selection is still making some progress in improving the human gene pool.

Yeah, it gets tiring talking about people being shot due to a ridiculous gun culture doesn't it.

More of a subculture of gun culture - really. The extremists. If you considered a group like the NRA the extremists of gun culture, you'd notice that their (inflated) membership claims @5mil people - are just a drop in the bucket- of overall gun ownership/culture. I doubt that some other nebulous group, call them "gun nuts" outnumber the NRA (hell, they seem to share membership roles) by much, if at all.

Gun culture isn't ridiculous (and does contain within it the sage wisdom "do not hand a 9yr old a submachine gun"), a smaller subset of that group is ridiculous. They are nuts...after all, eh?

I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

While I like the tongue in cheek sentiment (a lot), I am skeptical of what "gun culture" is.

It seens as nebulous as saying "white culture" (which I still have yet to get a good definition of).

What is "gun culture" and how does it keep idiots from reigning supreme?

The only people I know who own a gun (automatics at that) are young dumb and admittedly racist small town boys. That or they're older generation cowboys and like to get drunk, hop on the lawnmower, and shoot the stars and their canon, periodically. Retired servicemen have the only gun culture I even half respect, but that's because they've been fully trained to use them. Based on the suicide rates of those that go on to own guns though.. Maybe not the best thing to have lyin around a PTSD trained killer.

Admittedly, if I went on a hiking trip in the mountains near the grizzlies and mountain lions and big foot.. I'd want a gun.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I own guns, and I'll be the first to say that allowing a child to handle an submachinegun is the epitome of stupid. My own child is 12, and he has not fired anything more than a goddamned BB gun under my supervision, nor would he, until he's ready.
