I guess it depends on your definition of prayer. If by prayer you mean...thinking, then yea I do that all the time.

I meditate when I'm playing my guitar -- at least, when I'm doing it right. I lose myself, and I'm not playing the music, but allowing the music to play me.
It does me a world of good, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to find a little peace of mind.

I tried to learn once. Pressing the strings hurts my fingers. They eventually got crusty and calloused and cracked and it hurt so bad. That's when I took up writing poetry instead.

Prayer - address to God: a spoken or unspoken address to God, a deity, or a saint.
Atheist + prayer = oxymoron.
Meditation - pondering of something: the act of thinking about something carefully, calmly, seriously, and for some time, or an instance of such thinking.
Atheist + meditation = reasonable

Calluses are requirements for playing steel-string, but if you ever get the hankerin' again, go to the music store and ask for a nylon-string guitar, much easier on the fingers, can't really play the blues on 'em, but great for classical, jazz, or light pop stuff.
And then you can put your verse to music.

I was going to put this in my gun nut thread, but, WTF. It works here better.

And, as usual, "fucking prayer" is no match for an Uzi.

What arrogance those who pray have, as if a) their god doesn't know of their travails and needs to be told, and 2) that the entire plan for the universe that their god has mapped out ought to be changed because Grandma is dying a natural death.
They really haven't thought through this prayer thing.
