I'm not sure what attending church services has to do with your basic needs for survival. I'm sorry you got kicked out. Maybe take a trip to the next nearest one, since you have nothing tying you down to that area.

The title of your thread is misleading, OP. You weren't denied shelter because you're an atheist; you didn't take the shelter offered because you weren't willing to do what it took to get it. Big difference. Who are you punishing here?

Why should Mothonis need to attend church service at all? Again, what does that have to do with someone's basic needs for survival? Shall s/he go to other religious services too? What other needless hoops does someone need to go through for food, shelter, and clothing?

Because that's what those who are running the shelter offer: go to a church service, obtain shelter. Why shouldn't they? It's their shelter.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat myself.

Are you trying to say there should be state-run shelters?

I would assume people who really wanted to help others wouldn't really care if they went to church or not. I don't know if the vast majority of shelters are like that, but I'm not sure why they would be. Why would you offer food, shelter, and clothing to one group and not others unless your main goal is to convert instead of actually help people?

You're right, but I think what you're missing is that it is their goal. And they have that right.

It's not the least unusual for those offering aid to have ulterior motives. The church has one. And you got it in one, they want to: 1) convert people; and 2) help believers like themselves.
Assuming they really wanted to unconditionally help others doesn't coincide with the history of the Christian Church.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
