Your Primary Goal of Life ?-- Islam
#21
RE: Your Primary Goal of Life ?-- Islam
I'm totally not so sure if I have found my passion. In childhood I loved becoming a fighter pilot but now I'm into civil engineering so much that I realize it was just a mere fascination and nothing else. I want to give my life a meaning. Do something for humanity and relieve them from clutches of bearded extremists. Want to live in the memories of history after I die.But just following my profession doesn't seem to guarantee me that.

I like to think of people like Einstein , Euler and Newton as their ultimate goal was to expose the humanity towards hidden realms of knowledge. In some way or the other their discoveries and the struggle is helping us today. What were their goals of life when they were the age of me ? I think they all had it figured it out at 21 when I can't.

Sometimes I suspect that people like that simply do their physics or maths as an obsession, and becoming famous and finding out great things in the long run is more of a byproduct. I somehow doubt that Euler thought he was doing something great for all of mankind, or even becoming famous, when he did all his work. He surely was obsessed by the maths first, and thought about the consequences later.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

You can believe that, but there is no evidence of it.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.
