What I wonder is what makes you think Islam could not thrive in the developed west. Especially now since people have made Islam their sacred cow. Ironic given that the people that defend Islam here are basically next on the stoning list after atheists.

Copts aren't really that tolerant either. The only good thing about them is that they're more exposed to the (allegedly Christian) West.

Shiites are also more exposed to the west than Sunnis.

God damn you, I read the thread title and came in ready to whoop butt on some Islamic apologist.

I have to say though it was rather ironical.

When they were mocking liberal idiots about their inability to see Islam, and thereby Muslims, as anything other than a minority group in need of all the protections afforded to such a status.
They should have introduced Ben as example 'A' and done some documentary after commentary on his reactions.......... someone needs to do this and post it on YouTube !

I watched the exchange between Affleck and Harris several times, and I have yet to hear anything racist or bigoted from Harris. Criticizing ideas is not bigoted.

I love when Kristol makes Harris' point for him by listing a few Muslims that are heroic for speaking out against Islam extremism.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
