The Newly Departed thread: announcements (departures)
RE: The Newly Departed thread: announcements (departures)
Rob, I'm sorry to see you go. Especially under the circumstances. This forum is losing a valuable member. I will miss you, but please keep in touch elsewhere, okay?

I don't wanna be considered irrational. I want to be considered ultra-rational to such a high degree that I am shamelessly hyperactively irrepressibly seemingly irrational and it's not because I'm irrational it's because I'm not irrationally hiding my irrationally like most folks inadvertently do Big Grin

Like... pretending not to be biased wouldn't be impartial of me... it would be irrationally in denial. Admitting my biases is step 1 of being rational. Step 2 would in theory be to eradicate my biases but I don't believe that's possible in practice and pretending it is and trying to change the biases I cannot change is more irrational than acknowledging it and rubbing it in everyone's faces provided that they enjoy it or at least don't tell me to fuck off or that I'm bothering them.

Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

That has got to be one of the longest run on sentences I've ever read.

O.o

hehe... try to read Saramago

I'm sure they will just hop right onto changing the forum to suit every rage quitter's needs just because you cried about it. My sentiments were genuine, btw, prick.

To be quite honest, stuff like this is making me considering leaving. I'm not even involved, but the drama is clear.

You want to leave when someone, mostly laughingly, responds flippantly to someone who has picked fights with her twice over innocuous comments? You can block me. It doesn't bother me. Don't leave over it, though. I'm not very serious at all. He was sarcastic. I made a joke that had swears in it. I honestly don't have an opinion about the guy one way or the other.

It's to do with principles I can't compromise on. Unfortunately this means I can no longer stand by the forum, and being here only makes me sad. Apparently there is something coming about this issue so I will say more about it then.

That's not at all a reflection on the wonderful membership here. I think of many of you as friends, and I've been honoured to have been part of the community. You're welcome to keep in contact with me by email or Skype, both [email protected].

If things ever change, I might return. But sadly it's not looking like that's ever going to happen. Thank you all, and goodbye Heart

I won't give you kudos for that. And I can't say it surprises me, given all the signs you gave by no longer participating as much. I'm sad that I was right in what I already assumed would happen. I certainly drop you a line sometime in the next few weeks if that's alright with you.

Sorry to hear this Rob, I liked you from the very start, never stopped.

I've got no clue what is going on behind the scenes, what the issues are, but I do have some questions for you and maybe others reading this. Don't feel obliged to respond.

I understand that you have principles that you have to live by, we all do (hopefully). That said, I'm not sure why you need to leave because you can't get others to agree to abide by your principles. Can't you just abdicate the throne and not leave the country (step down as a mod/remain in the forum)? Then your principles could be your own and remain in tact. You would no longer feel that you need to fight, except on your own personal level, for your own personal reasons and not for others. Maybe you can't stand by/with the directing/direction of admins/mods, but can't you stand by the forum as a whole? Still contribute, just on an individual basis? Would going back to being a member continue to compromise your principles?

I don't understand why you think you failed. Trying to make a change in a group, that does not get implemented, is not failure. No attempt at making a change would be the failure.

I'll try another slant. If you were in a political position and one of your proposed legislative bills were shoot down in committee, I can see you resigning. But would you stop being a member of the political party or stop voting?

Take some time and think about it. One word of advice, never say never. You don't know what the future may bring and how time may heal. By leaving, some of us may hurt, but you might be hurting yourself more.

I'm not going to plead with you to stay. I will, as always, wish you the best.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

There that should do it. It was getting way to serious for my sensibilities.

No. Fuck that. I said drama. Your interpretations and accusations aren't always right.

The problem I saw was someone who used to be staff treating a good person doing nothing wrong (free speech, right?) like complete shit. When some random asshat does it, that doesn't reflect on the forum. It's different when someone more important to the forum does it. Don't give me any fucking lip over it just because I dislike that.

I don't want to block someone who isn't just a random asshat, but I will if there's going to be a problem. I'd rather that not be the case.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

Lol, I'm not giving you fucking lip, tough guy. If you think what I say reflects on the forum just because I'm ex-staff, that's your problem. I can and will say whatever I want. There's a group of you taking up far too much time and resources with your SJW bullshit. You're the folks who say you hate drama but are always somehow in the middle of it.

People stirring shit and rage quitting aren't doing nothing wrong, but I fully support their right to do say and, again, genuinely meant it when I said I hope he finds a place that is a better fit. It would be even better if he could be comfortable with the purpose of the forum as it stands. It's not up to you queens to interpret what I said to a departing member of staff, who I've never had any problem with and isn't fucking whining about my goodbye to him at all.

If there's going to be a problem? You responded to me, princess. Block away.

ETA: Tiberius says this is why I don't have any friends.
