I would correct that like this for my opinion

In my opinion, 'evil' is anything which goes against the basic goal of God to interconnect.

I would say that both of our descriptions are inclusive of each other. I believe the thing which binds us all as being profoundly human and good in nature is that part of ourselves which is connected to God...basically, to interconnect with one another at all, we must acknowledge that part of ourselves which we know to be God.

I think he means something more along the lines of the essence of self or spirit, not necessarily of the Holy type, not emotion.
