RationalPoet.......Making the sausage, OP/ED......I love my well intended friends on the left regarding equality on social issues, but I do get pissed off when they demand or even suggest we don't rock the boat because we might upset someone. The difference between the oppressors and mere blasphemy is that one is willing to use laws and violence, while the other is merely saying "bullshit" or "stop doing that you are being a dick".
I think far too much of the sensitive left, which IS well intended, gets angry at the wrong people instead of getting angry at the right people. The blasphemers, like me are not lost on the concept of context. We do treat individuals as such.
To call out oppressors is not lumping an entire group. It is a matter of a big enough minority holding the majority hostage. You do not free a society by allowing those few to hold that majority hostage.
Sam Harris and Salman Rushdie ARE NOT lumping the likes of Malala A MUSLIM in with ISIS. They are NOT lumping the likes of Congressman Keith Ellison in with ISIS. They are saying there is a minority in control that are holding far too much of that region back. Get angry at the oppressors, not the people standing up to the oppressors.
