A government official earlier said the raised threat level was in response to an increase in online "general chatter" from radical groups including Islamic State and al-Qaeda.

Ministry spokesman Jean-Christophe de Le Rue said on Tuesday that the increased level "means that intelligence has indicated that an individual or group within Canada or abroad has the intent and capability to commit an act of terrorism".

On Tuesday a Muslim convert was killed by Quebec police after deliberately hitting two soldiers in his car, killing one and injuring another.

Religion of Peace, pretty much.

And remember, this violence like all other acts of religious violence have nothing to do with Islam, or so we must say lest a certain hack overrated actor begin blustering at us that we're "racist".

You know, the PC "coexist" group kind of reminds me of the NRA. Every time there's a mass shooting in America, they immediately drop in to quash any discussion that gun violence has anything to do with the availability of guns and the latest tragedy, like all others, must be attributable to violence in popular entertainment or something. Similarly, the "coexist" folks run a similar sustained campaign of enabling of religious violence.

I'm sure they'll appreciate that comparison.

It shouldn't matter if he is. You aren't a Muslim.

I remember once in an online exchange with some Muslim apologists, one of them once said, "your Bible". I was quick to correct him. "No, no, no, do not assume that because I'm an American that I'm a Christian. I have nothing but contempt for Jesus, I revile the Bible and consider Christianity to be the worst disaster to ever befall the human race."

Truth be told, I don't see a dime's worth of difference between Christianity and Islam. The artificial, illusory difference is that Christian leaders can only fondly remember the kind of power they once had to torture, terrorize and murder. Civilization has more-or-less restrained it.

Oddly enough, the situation used to be reversed between the West and the Arabic empire. Under a more moderate strain of Islam, learning flourished and the ancient knowledge of the Greeks and Romans was preserved. Europe owes much of its Enlightenment to the Middle East. Somehow, as Christianity was forced into moderation, allowing for that enlightenment, a more fundamentalist strain of Islam took hold in the Middle East.

I would love to see the Middle East regain that dedication to science and enlightenment.

In our time line, not only did Islam borrow heavily from Christianity, but was also further coarsened by Christian crusades 4 centuries after its formation.

But if there had never been Christianity, Islam as we know it might not have existed, but who is to say what nature would other ideologies arising in their places possess?
