Should a Christian save?

(October 23, 2014 at 10:03 pm)Christian Wrote: As Christians, we are to place our trust and security in God and not in savings fund (1 Tim. 6:17). This does not mean that it is unwise to have savings or even an emergency credit card, if justified, but it should not be our security or constant “go to” in times of trouble. If you can trust a credit card to be there for you when times are tough, you can trust God to help you establish an emergency fund as well. Seriously, like, are you for real? I mean, are you just trolling now or do you honestly, really believe all this bollocks? Yeah, go ahead. Just just keep borrowing. Take out lots of credit cards and get that debt sky High. I'm sure your god's got your back. Credit cards and banks are un-Christian because they charge interest, and Jesus was very explicit on the matter. Learn to Bible. The suggested model of christianity here cares naught for frugality, forethought or long-term strategy. The idea being that God will provide. Given the evidence from christian countries where starvation is common-place, I'd suggest that you avoid this model.

Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
Pat Robertson doesn't need to save, he owns the fucking bank.
A 'Christian' Should honor whatever God gives them as per the parable told of the talents in Mat 25. If we have been given money to save/invest for God then by God we ought to do that. If however we are to live day to day then that is how we are tasked to live. There is no one right answer here because the answer greatly depends on what God gives you.

Do you read the parable of the talents as applying only to what providence/god sends you in life, or do think it also or even primarily concerns what you should do with knowledge of god?
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
