It wasn't all that long ago that my missus broke a crystal water pitcher in her shop and cut herself rather badly (she's fine, thanks in advance for asking). Her hand was bleeding profusely when she went to the back to get something to wrap it with. When the excitement settled down, she and one of her assistants doing the clean up noticed that a print of a tonsured monk from the 14th century was blood-splattered, utterly ruined. Next to it was a signed photograph of Charlie Chaplin who was - among other things - an outspoken atheist. Not a drop on it.

From this, we can clearly conclude that God likes silent films more than he likes the clergy.

When someone comes up with a story like the OP I always ask, why didn't god or Jesus or the Flying Spaghetti monster, intervene for all the people getting killed? There was that teary story after Columbine, about some girl praying to god. She was painted as some saint in some media outlets - and yes, she got killed.

Not good enough for divine intervention obviously.
