Didn't you say at one point, you're native American?
And still your family are Jesus freaks?

The overall idiocy of people on Facebook eventually drove me away from there. I have not logged in over a year, but it does not surprise me that the ignorant still pander their nonsense.

I resubscribe every few months to check in on family but that's it, unless some silly pointless game like Farmville sucks me in. I've been sober of Facebook for 5 months.

I use FB for shameless self-promotion. Do you know that if you start a page promising to do nothing but advertise, people will like it? It's true.
Actually the same can be said of Twitter.

I expect that I won't be using Facebook.
There are very delicious reasons right here on this forum...mmm
Where am I? Oh yes, I have a Facebook that I recently created (maybe 3ish months ago) all of my friends are members from AF and TTA. Except for like 2 guys who added my that are members of the Facebook group The Atheist Nexus (or something like that).
I enjoy Facebook occasionally. The key to a good Facebook experience is not adding any idiots.

The key to Facebook and Twitter is all in how you use them. Unfortunately, people use them wrong.
On FB, I'm only friends with people I actually know (it's up to a whopping 64 people, mostly from high school and college). My account isn't visible to the public. No potential client could look me up and find anything, with the exception of the picture I also use here. I'm not a member of any groups, and I tend to block the idiotic theist shit my friends post. I use it mostly to talk to a handful of people I can't contact through normal means.
With Twitter, I use it as a way to follow web development trends (following actual developers yields a great deal of information as they're always blogging), general tech/science stuff (Elon Musk, Phil Plait, etc.), and some sports stuff from decent sources. I hardly ever post. It's a customized news feed that has actually helped me become a better developer.
The key is to not be an idiot. Don't make your info public. Yeah, I get that I'm FB and Twitter's product, but my life is stunningly mundane. I don't care if advertisers know about me. The other key is to not engage in internet drama. That's what forums are for

I'm the opposite. I don't have a single friend that I've met in person. I don't have a single friend who is a theist. I am a member of like 4 groups: the atheist nexus, atheism is no laughing matter, I fucking love science, an skeptical thinking. I use Facebook mostly to entertain myself when I'm bored and look at pictures of hot atheist chicks nude.

I quit FB about eighteen months ago and have never missed it. What a fucking waste of time. Now, if I could only persuade my SO to stop reading aloud the dumb shit she gets on her page, I might have some peace.

I block 2-5 religious bullshit threads on my wall every couple of days.
Start your own page on the absurdities of Christianity, put up lots of posts and then see the idiots start screaming persecution at you.
