Green Peace damages Nacza lines

RE: Green Peace damages Nacza lines
That's weird as fuck for an organization like Greenpeace. What were they thinking? But more importantly, is this real?
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."

Peru has claimed there was damage but there is no description of it. Evidence?

Yes it wasn't the smartest thing they could have done, but I'm with Chas here. The letters are cutouts which were laid on top of the ground, and I'm not seeing this most visible of all lines they damaged. Did they erase it completely?

It is in the German news with plenty of details and names

Here's a USA Today article explaining it more in-depth:

That is good to know.

Quote:he activists placed yellow letters next to a famous hummingbird design, and now Peruvian authorities are threatening to sue Greenpeace and criminally charge the activists with "attacking archaeological monuments," according to The Associated Press.

Even after reading the CNN article, I assumed that placing the letters meant that they painted them which seems amazingly disrespectful. I am glad to learn that they placed cutouts on the site. Still a stupid thing to do but hopefully, they can rectify the damage.

Stupidity truly has no limits. They really should have known better in the first place.

This is willful defacement of a historical monument. It isn't any different than TPing (covering in toilet paper) Mount Rushmore. It is vandalism pure and simple.

Not even government officials are allowed on that site without special permission. It is so sensitive to foot traffic that when people do visit it, they are required to use special shoes and follow a strict protocol(which I am imagining probably involves walking on their tippy toes)

Nope. Vandalism requires damaging or defacing.

Greenpeace both damaged and defaced the site so it is vandalism. The Peruvian government claims one of the lines was damaged and foot prints were left that will last hundreds if not thousands of years. It was in the CNN article. I even quoted part of it.

Just walking on that surface can damage it. I think you'd have to get a lot closer than those photos to see it.
