Or a union between a rapist and his victim.
What is this sanctity of marriage they talk about? In biblical times women were bought and sold like chattel. You didn't go to a woman and ask her to accept you as her husband. You went to her dad and paid him fifty silver, if he was part of the same religion as you. If not, just kill everyone who cares about her, and drag her off.
Why do christians act like monogamy between consenting adults isn't this new radical concept?
Well that's considered unmoral now. They've changed a lot since then, and it's time they do it again. Unless of course Christians still feel obligated to kill and rape and feel robbed of their god given right.

Well, the term shotgun wedding comes to mind when I think of people having sex out of wedlock, but even then the dad that's forcing the boy to get married would hopefully only do so because his daughter assured him it wasn't rape. That may be giving undeserved benefit of the doubt, though.

Marriage predates Christianity by at least a thousand years, probably much more than that. Hebrews, Egyptians, Chinese, and many other peoples defined it to include a man and one or more women. Romans and Greeks went the one man one woman route but there are many variations across the world. Some cultures invoke god about it, but many don't. People of other religions, and no religion have been getting married in this country for a very long time. Christians have no special claim to the institution.
Marry, don't marry who you want in your churches, but don't say you have any special claim. You might as well say sex is sacred to Christians and sex laws should reflect that.

Yeah really. Christians are way too interested in other people having sex.

(It's also defined as between a man and many women in the Bible too)

Because a father owns the body of his daughter, don't you know anything about being morally good?

I fully agree with the sanctity of marriage. I mean, how else am I to foster alliances and increase my land holdings?
