It sounds like a paid library service where you can "check out" any title Amazon carries* so you don't keep paying full price for ebooks** you only read once.
From what I understand about Amazon's service, the titles are limited and Audible is not included. Since I don't have a Kindle (and never will) I can't say I've researched it thoroughly. I need a service that is
not device dependent. It's why I now buy from ebooks.com.
Kobo readers are
awesome! No more being locked into one specific provider! Anyone who sells, rents or lends Adobe Digital Edition formatted Epub (the most common ebook format) books will work for me.

Yeah, I've been looking at Oysterbooks, but their description of how their service works is a little fuzzy and
you can't see what books they actually have without signing up. "Over a million titles" sounds good, but if they're all 10-years old or older...
After further review: They've added a library preview feature. Their selection is not as bad as I'd feared, but I'll have to look more (maybe even sign up for the free trial) before deciding whether to pony up $10/month is worth it.
Of course, with over a dozen online public libraries I can (or already have) become a member of, I may not need a pay service.
