It's kind of hit or miss for me, (pun intended). Some fights are great, and some are really boring. I don't like the ground and pound, or the wrestling. If they stay on their feet, it's usually pretty good.

Did DC underestimate Jones' strength...or his drug use? o_O

I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay." For context, this is the previous verse: "Hi Jesus" -robvalue (January 6, 2015 at 7:08 pm)Exian Wrote: Did DC underestimate Jones' strength...or his drug use? o_O Haha, yeah I saw that. I doubt that using cocaine somewhat recently gave him any sort of advantage. I was rooting for Cormier (seems like a stand up guy, Jones seems like an ass.) and thought that he would win. That being said I was amazed by Jon Jones. So impressed. Even though he's a coke using asshat, he's probably the greatest MMA fighter that ever lived. ![]()
Yeah it definitely didn't, especially since he passed a test 5 days later or whatever it was. I agree he is probably the greatest. Silva had an impressive run and will probably get back on top in no time, if his heart is still in it, but much like Machida, he mostly tries to stay out of trouble and, also like Machida, his fighting style is a little one dimensional. I think that Jones mixes it up (you know, MMA) and that he isn't afraid to test his abilities by getting in some deep shit edges out Silva as the GOAT. For these same reasons Jones' fights are much more entertaining to watch. And it's just good to see Americans kicking ass at such a high level. Canada and Brazil were dominating there for a while.

Anderson is amazing and well rounded. Jon is just more amazing and well rounded. More dynamic than GSP, more skilled than Fedor, stronger than Cormier. Just amazing. Too bad he's such a douche. Of course all those guys maintained greatness into their 30s. Jon's lifestyle might prevent that.
Personally Fedor was my favorite to watch, although perhaps he was the least great of the truly great fighters. He was so ferocious and calm at the same time. Charging straight at the person with aggression that none of the others could really match. Cain is similar in that aspect. I think if Jones thinks he can handle Cain the way he did Cormier, he's going to be in for a shock. Then again I was wrong the first time. ![]() RE: MMA fans?

The -one- thing that I don't like about it, is how blatantly the rules are gamed. I've been watching for years since it was bootleg tapes and long before there was an octagon. I don't know if you guys will have noticed this, but as the rules developed the motion of the fighters started to fall into patterns capable of exploiting those rules.
For example, no punching in the back of the head. -A good rule, not arguing that. However - notice the proliferation of slow spins where the back of the head is presented for extended periods? They'll even keep their necks winched to keep the rear facing when the rest of their frame is perp. That shit makes me grind my teeth. Okay Joe, you missed your silly fucking roundhouse - now take the punch to the face that you so richly deserve. /rant

Who you got? I'm going with the obvious. McGregor has that special ability to keep his eyes open, looking for targets, even while being swung on. His mobility and ability to close distances will probably be the biggest factor. Dennis has some serious knockout power, but I think he'll have to get really lucky to beat Connor's speed.

Shit! Thanks for reminding me that’s tonight.
Love watching MMA.
