Weird things theists have told you

RE: Weird things theists have told you
It's a crying shame, really, because take the god thing out of the picture and he was a really great guy. One of my closest friends at the time, in fact. We still keep in touch via Facebook.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Oh yeah? That is a big shame then.

It is amazing how people can just completely switch their ability to think off when it comes to religion and turn into 3 year olds having a tantrum.

I used to date an extremely religious girl (make your own assumptions as to how that worked out), and we went to see the movie Splice with a friend of mine. I'll let you do a search on the film rather than explain it, but suffice to say it's a strange sci-fi flick. Really strange actually. Anyway, this girl cries after the movie because she felt like she had committed some sort of offense toward god for watching what she described as the filth and debauchery in the movie. I mean, the movie was weird - really weird - but filth and debauchery is a vast overreaction. It was insane. I didn't know what the fuck to say. "It was just a movie," and other sentiments fell on deaf ears.

I have another involving my twelve-year-old nephew. About a month or so ago, he killed a deer and my brother called me to help drag it out of the woods. I drove over to where they were at and the kid starts talking about how he shot and missed the first time but hit the deer on the next shot. He then made one of the weirdest, creepiest statements I've heard in a while:

"I missed it the first time, but God gave me a second chance and I took its life!"

Fucking. Creepy.

I was once told by Gman that Atheist don't exist because humans are little gods (he thinks we are all gods children) that was extremely weird and stupid.

Yeah. In a lot of apologists books they say atheists don't exist because they all secretly do believe in god but won't admit it. I love being told what I believe by complete strangers.

Posted in another thread but it fits here as well:

The devil has a damn fine grasp of science then, considering where he places them. Much better than "firmament boy".

I was once told by a friend who had recently joined a cult that I was probably, unbeknownst to me, a torch bearer of the violet flame sent to earth to usher in the new age of St. Germain - or Archangel Gabriel... or something. That's hard to top in the weirdness department.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Seldom has a plea for help been so obvious and so plaintive.

I think I should have reacted differently back then... I don't know. I mainly shrugged and said that I don't think there's anything to that.
