It's also an often used argument by apologists and that's probably where the resident christers get their wisdom from. Not so much atheists being their own gods, but more on the lines of atheists know that god exists, they just don't want to admit it.

Been at this for 14 years, too many "weird" things to list. One thing I have learned when debating theists is they always find a new way to redress the skunk of an argument in a new tuxedo.
One of the more absurd arguments with a theists was when they argued Malachi 2:3 "Behold, I will corrupt your seed and spread DUNG upon your faces".
He came back with "That is the KJV version, the NIV says "refuse" not "dung".
Ok, take your pick, "trash or feces" so it is ok to punish humans by rubbing trash or shit in their faces like we are puppies who peed on the carpet?

Just recently i was told when you die you will meet your maker, my reply i already meet my makers i love my makers because my parents are my makers, their reply no not them god he made your soul, but...there is no such thing were just brains in motion nothing more nothing less, their reply we do have souls you have one i am serious, prove it, their well your just you i really cant..., well at least you tried but you still failed.

Nothing shocks me anymore about what theists argue. Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Mormons, Catholics, even have run into Hoteps and Rastafarians. It is all superstitious fantasy conspiracy to placate the insecurities of humans who do not want to accept their finite existence.
We have a species that once believed in a god named Thor an a species that fell for L Ron Hubbard's bullshit.
