Winter Solsice and holiday Party
#21
RE: Winter Solsice and holiday Party
Ah! Lovecraft mythos boardgame. All players play against the board, trying to seal gates to R'lyeh, the Plateau of Leng, City of the Great Race etc before the slumbering Elder One awakens
How will we know, when the morning comes, we are still human? - 2D

Don't worry, my friend.  If this be the end, then so shall it be.

My son's out here for the holidays. We're driving up to my favorite cousin's place in Dallas for Christmas. I'm jazzed, they get Christmas like I do, which is that "peace on Earth, good will towards men" is a goddamned good sentiment to honor. It'll be the first time I've had Christmas with extended family in many years, and to me, that's the Hokey-Pokey.

Haha yes I swear! The relationship between my comment and this thread is, ahem, tenuous at best through my own fault, but I swear to Almighty Atheismo it exists!

Sounds like you will have a real good time! I'm not doing anything tomorrow but will go to dinner on Christmas. It's a family tradition but hardly anyone will be home. I'll get to see my niece and her hubby and my sister n laws brother.

I'm figuring it will be a very good time. Phyllis, my cousin, is one of the smartest people I know, and funny as all get-out. Her husband, Michael, is also incredibly smart, despite being a raging liberal. We disagree loudly, honestly, and lovingly about our politics. They're both freethinkers, and deist. They're both very educated, informed, and if you put a little wine in them they'll chew your ears off.

I and my son will be there, as mentioned. Two other cousins, whom I don't care for so much but don't often see, will also be there, along with my mom and her common-law husband.

I hope your holiday is a safe and happy one, MR.

Sounds like you have your hands full with all the relatives and discussions to come. Thank you, I hope to be safe but it is going to snow on christmas day and I will be driving there. I try to drive safely. My little Suzy dog will go with me. She loves hanging out by the food!!

Do drive carefully. Mount chains if you have them. Make sure you have a blanket in your car, and some food and drink too. Be careful.

Myself, I don't see it as having my hands full, I see it as time well-spent with loved ones. The fact that they can make me think is great, don't you agree?

That's true. I like conversation a lot, too. Especially when it is stimulating. Thanks for the driving advice. I do need to put a blanket in the car for sure.
