After demolishing the so-called 'gospels' Carrier has moved on to the epistles. This should be good.
This is just a teaser:
Quote:As a psychologist once put it (about Paul's letter to fellow congregants in Rome, whom he had not yet met and thus can't have shared his own stories with):
Imagine for a moment that one of your friends writes you a twenty-page letter passionately wanting to share her excitement about a new teacher. This letter has only one topic, your friend's new teacher. [But] at the end of her letter, you still do not know one thing about her teacher. Yet, Paul presents the central figure of his theology this way . . . . It [seems] impossible to imagine how Paul could avoid telling one story or parable of--or fail to note one physical trait or personal quality of-Jesus. 3

Yes, but I'm not sure why you're sharing that with me. My point earlier had to do with how 'barbarian' was how the Greco-Roman world saw everyone else, whether in a pejorative sense or not. This would have included Persians, North Africans, Germanic and Gallic tribes, Jews -- all of them.
Anyway, carry on.
Yes I understood what you were saying.

Because smart people tend to get flack from morons especially Neil Degrass Tyson even though he was poking fun at Christmas recently. If people cannot take a joke well that's their problem. Humanity is unfortunate have people who think Physicists are unimportant and do not contribute to the world. I mean think of it GC what if just what if the world didn't have the smart innovative people in it in the past and future. We wouldn't get far as we would be still in the dark ages. So when smart people say stupidity is their norm they usually mean the society at large or the people who are theists, exclude the children i think they had enough and besides the newer generations are pretty smart.
I was speaking of the ability to use common sense in matters where logic and common sense meet.
Speaking of where we would be without smart people, not very far, however it's what smart people do with their intelligence. All the money, even half the money spent on the space program would have been enough to feed all the starving people of this world. What we have learned about things in space has not considerably improved the lives of starving people. Atheist here ask why does God (one they do not believe in) allow people to starve, well I ask this why do people allow other people to starve, are these people less important to you than science, specifically sciences of the space program. So for atheist who is suppose to feed the starving, the Christian church is trying hard, but we are limited in funds, so where are the atheist besides pointing fingers. I'm sure someone will try to rationalize why what I said isn't true but, the truth is mankind is responsible for others who are starving, yet science that can't benefit them and their needs gets the money. This is a shame that man is guilty of, period.

PS who wrote that for you, that's not how you write?

Another way to say that is even worshiping an almighty god couldn't protect the Romans from worldly forces.
Just wanted to point that out.
To bad you do not understand punishment of wicked people.

They weren't pagan? <scurries off to the books>
Thanks for the learning tip, this is clearly something I need to read more on.
More than that is apparent.

Because the psychologist isn't smart enough to consider the four gospels, Paul found no need to repeat what was said by those who lived with Jesus.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

The four gospels...and all the others which did not make the cut of the holy committee were dismissed in an earlier chapter. Don't bother reading Carrier's book, G-C. It's way over your head.
Stick to your fucking bible. That's your speed.

I was away for a while and look - more stupid comments from people who know jackshit about the Bible, God and Christianity.
It will take me a few days to go through this thread and respond to each question, albeit vacuous ones.

BADASS ALERT! BADASS ALERT!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Well, from what I've seen, there's a lot of jackshit in the bible to start with...
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
