There is nothing wrong with running off with your buddies for a vacation, but did you ever run off with your wife for two weeks?
Forgetting her birthday? And that is all it took to piss her off? Leave her, but I doubt that this was the only thing, but rather the straw that broke the camel's back. You should be discussing this with your wife. If you cannot do that, then that is your problem. It is time to learn to communicate. Is not that why you married her in the first place, someone to share your life with?

You can forget everything else, but never ever forget your woman's birthday, anniversary or your kids game, even if you have amnesia!!
Anyway, your best bet, take her out to dinner and don't act cheap. Afterwards, learn how to use a mobile and learn how to set reminders on it. It's a lifesaver. Well, this is what happens when you want to spend your whole life with someone else, you just suffer.
I always get my wife birthday kush, so I don't forget it's her birthday until after I've remembered.
