Even atheists must agree, that the society as we are now morphing into is due to a lack of instilled morality. I've heard here, that empathy is all that one needs to build a moral bases..... I ask, where do you find that in the general public? Who finds empathy, and where? A video game, or sniper movie? Perhaps an evening of s&m porn will make one empathetic? No, there is no tap for empathy. We hope some parent, somewhere is teaching their child how to empathize.... and not to walk by a bleeding person in the street who may be our child!
Where will ALL the good people come from? Per society (and atheist) wishes, God and His people will diminish. But then, Allah and his cohorts are their replacement! A New World Order needs a new minor annoyance.... Oui? Do you not find it strange that our society is now embracing almost everything that is counter to our sense of natural order? Its actually, mind boggling! And at a pace that is making heads spin! Or roll as Allah and our govt would have it!
And the NWO will of course be how many people you have on your side of the street! And how sharp your sword is. So stock up on vittles and candles. And get ready for a bumpy ride. Its not gonna get better. I'm usually an optimist. Not lately. I'll probably be one of the first to go anyway! I don't take to change very well.
What you have is a video presentation of a bunch of arguably immoral events. Now, please explain what makes you think there are more immoral events now than there used to be. Hint: statistics might be handy.
If you do manage to show that, step to would be to compare more moral societies with less moral ones to see if religiously governed societies are more lawful than secular ones. Hint: statistics would still be required.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

God is pretty rubbish if he's just standing there watching us atheists tear down all his propaganda.
Instead of coming down to clear things up, he sends the caps lock warriors.

Yes, I'd noticed you'd posted again.

If this "God" of yours truly is in charge, how can anything we humans do possibly have any effect on whatever its plans might be? Is it so ineffectual that we can tell it to piss off and it obeys like a whipped dog?
Or is there some simpler, more prosaic explanation?

As a non-US citizen I find this level of parochial generalising quite insulting.

All? No. But without it, any system of morality is going to be a total bastard to enforce.

Back in '01/02, I was walking back from a friend's house with my Sam. It was late evening, dark and the street was almost completely deserted apart from two women approaching from just ahead of us. Suddenly, Sam went into one of the fits to which she was prone, and I eased her gently to the ground and knelt beside her. I knew that the best course of action was to make sure she was safe while she rode it out.
The two women saw what was happening and asked if they could help. I noticed that, rather incongruously, one of them was carrying a large glass jar of coins, which she gave me to hold while she attended to Sam. After a few minutes, Sam came out of it, declined the offer of an ambulance (we knew from experience it was largely a waste of time), we returned the jar and everyone continued on their way.
Now consider the scene from their point of view. They are carrying this money when they see two strangers apparently in trouble, one of them collapsing to the ground. For all the women knew we were a couple of thieves working a scam. Yet they didn't hesitate to offer assistance, nor to hand over their money without fuss or comment.
Similarly, I have many times gone out of my way to render assistance when it's been needed.
That's where I find empathy.
I'm back, by the way. Thanks for all the support and patience.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

If you're looking to find a sense of empathy from watching S&M vids or FPS games, then yeah, you're living in an impoverished world.
Me, I hone my sense of empathy by talking with -- and more importantly, listening to -- people. It's been my experience that almost everyone has good in them even if they've led a bad life. When I'm able to find the good in them, I find that my sense of empathy is strengthened. Of course, this means forgiving people their mistakes, and trying to put myself in their shoes -- understanding what drove them to make the decisions they did, no matter whether I think them right or wrong.
People are pretty good, on the whole. Yeah, there's a bunch of assholes, and yeah, even the good ones have a shitty side to them.
Religious or atheist, if you don't like other people, you won't be empathetic; and if you do like other people, you will feel for them.

Progressives vs. Regressives. Nothing new here. Some folks just want thing to go back to when they were on top.

It's quite lovely being on the top.

If the bottom is okay with that, I'd agree.
