The second law of thermodynamics and evolution

RE: The second law of thermodynamics and evolution
Well the basic debunking is that creationists are misrepresenting or misunderstanding the second law of thermodynamics. They have to reinterpret entropy to give it a more broad explanation that isn't what is actually used for in the second law. Here is how entropy is defined in the second law:

Quote: The concept of entropy is fundamental to understanding the second law of thermodynamics. Entropy (or more specifically, increase in entropy) is defined as heat (in calories or Btu's) absorbed by a system, divided by the absolute temperature of the system at the time the heat is absorbed. Absolute temperature is the number of degrees above "absolute zero", the coldest temperature that can exist.

So that doesn't have anything to do with what creationists are claiming, which is basically that everything is breaking down and things can't get more complex as with evolution. That's nowhere in the second law and they are changing definitions just to fit their agenda. You can read more here:

Therefore, god!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Morris Henrifa the Scientific Creationism says: "The second law of thermodynamics in that everything seeks to chaos, which precludes the possibility for development(, which requires the pursuit of the organization )

You do know that there's nothing scientific about Creationism. So it's a contradiction in itself.

And here's you Henry Morris (thats his actual name). Not in any way qualified to talk about evolution or thermodynamics. He was a hydraulic engineer.

We already saw what you meant, you described it wonderfully, in english. Clap
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. RE: The second law of thermodynamics and evolution
Quote:The Second Law of Thermodynamics is commonly known as the Law of Increased Entropy. While quantity remains the same (First Law), the quality of matter/energy deteriorates gradually over time. How so? Usable energy is inevitably used for productivity, growth and repair. In the process, usable energy is converted into unusable energy. Thus, usable energy is irretrievably lost in the form of unusable energy.

"Entropy" is defined as a measure of unusable energy within a closed or isolated system (the universe for example). As usable energy decreases and unusable energy increases, "entropy" increases. Entropy is also a gauge of randomness or chaos within a closed system. As usable energy is irretrievably lost, disorganization, randomness and chaos increase.

But the earth is not a closed system. Energy from the sun continues to enter our atmosphere, thus there is a continuous supply of new energy.

So, how do you end up getting that whopper foisted on you anyway? Trawling the interwebs, or was this man cited as an authority by someone you know?

"It" isn't something that requires a video to encapsulate. The 2nd law of thermodynamics isn't an issue for earth, life on earth, or the evolution of life on earth.
