But you see, now the state opposes them. It doesn't help them as it did in the old days.

Yep..... this only pushes religion to be less and less relevant to society at large. And yet this is just one case of Christianity turning extremists and terrorists there is others cases of it and much more. So yeah i am not surprised something like this happened.

FOX also says you cannot say there is such a thing as right winged Christian extremists.

Am I alone finding it odd this particular attack was on a secular target and not on either a 'backsliding' yet similar schismatic sect, or a 'big name' target like the Roman Catholic Church ??

(not being snarky, yet. I'm actually interested in how particular non-religious targets rise to the top of the hit list over what might seem to be more, for lack of a better term, logical targets)

Christian violence not a new phenomenon, not even modern Christian violence. Besides the KKK, there's the Identity Christian movement. I had a ring side seat for Identity Christian violence in the 1990 when it was big in Idaho and much of the Northwest.

The basic idea is that either non-caucasian people have no souls or they are otherwise not chosen by god--it goes back to Ham, doncha see? They had both Nazi and KKK roots and combined it with tax protest, gun owners rights (but only for white people), states rights, and pathological fear of zip codes and social security numbers. Mostly they committed bank, mortgage, and tax fraud and gummed up the courts with pro se lawsuits. But in their spare time they killed black people and burned down black churches. Think skin heads and you won't be far wrong.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god.  If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.

My take on religious violence and terror:
Religions are bad.
Christianity is worse.
Islam is Christianity on steroids.
