Atheism VS Christian Atheism?

RE: Atheism VS Christian Atheism?
It's an unfortunate moniker, but the poster clearly isn't a theist. He doesn't believe in gods-end of. He thinks that jesus was a teacher of "morals". Angel

There are so many splinters of this western tradition that they were bound to run out of academically coherent names at some point.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

No. I'm not saying I'm a Christian who doesn't know if Yahweh or Jesus really exists, I'm saying I'm a person who rejects the belief in a God or Gods(atheist) but prefer to see Jesus as a teacher of morals.

Works for me. The Jesus figure sets a pretty good example. I'd say anyone who follows that moral example, but does not believe Jesus was God, is on pretty good footing. In fact, even in the gospels, Jesus never claims to be God.

"I and the father are one" can be seen much like "we are all one." It doesn't literally mean the same person, it means there is an intrinsic connection-- like a husband and wife being one.

I mean come on Christian atheism.. i mean by that your defeating your own purpose as a believer. Better off with being agnostic just saying.

"Christian" doesn't have to be a belif or a faith system. It is sufficient just to associate oneself in any way with the Christ story. However, I'd argue a Christian moralist atheist isn't really taking a religious position at all-- any more than a Marxist is making communism a religion.

The best things Jesus said were not unique to the bible, and he still worshiped Yahweh, so I still wouldn't put the guy on a pedestal.

In the "christ" bit they are, unless they're using it as a name, which it isn't. Not really a problem, words change, but it's worth asking.

I know Jesus had some nice things to say and all, but let's not forget that he advocated thoughtcrime and eternal punishment. In fact, I bet you most of what Jesus said that was good had already been said by an Eastern philospher hundreds of years earlier, like the golden rule.

You are aware that in spite of all the horrors in the Old Testament it wasn’t until Jesus Christ showed up in the New Testament that ETERNAL DAMNATION came into play?

There are much better sources for ethical behavior than the Bible.
