If I understand your hyperlink problem, you might try disabling the automedia function:
[ am off ]video link goes here [ /amoff ]
(without spaces, of course.)
Note that I have absolutely no idea if this works; I just got it from our BBCode Guide in the Rules & Information area.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Nope, it only happens on threads with a shit-ton of embedded videos. And it happens on more than one machine. It *might* be a Firefox problem, but I seriously doubt it. That may be true, but it still shouldn't have anything to do with bandwidth.
Edit: also, as someone who has dabelled in web design, it's never particularly unlikely that something is the fault of the specific browser your using. Especially when it comes to the way things are displayed.

Well I use Chrome with decent internet and I've never ha this problem What video laden thread(s) might we be referring to (for testing purposes)?
Correction - it's not the screen flashing, it's the cursor repeatedly going back-and-forth between standard cursor & cursor + "loading" spinny-circle.
It's annoying as hell.

Try flashblock. It's worked wonders for my sanity.
You mean AdBlock plus? Can't find an add-on called "flashblock."

IE Explorere here, and I've loaded threads which are full of youtube vids. No blinking problem.

Read: "Fucking browsers, why do they deliberately interfere with my process by purposely breaking the html protocols."
I can't even express how happy I am now that browsers (for the most part) work now.
--edit--
With the importance of Android, it is my opinion that any website using flash is fucking retarded. Just saying.

Maybe we could make it so that that the forum automatically wraps [hide ] tags around Youtube URLs? Would that not solve the problem?
I have the same problem as Davka, because I have pages set to view 50 posts per. That could be dozens of videos attempting to load all at once. I avoid those threads entirely.

Fixed: User CP, Automedia, Off.
Will make it so the forum software does not automatically parse Youtube links and embed the videos. It will also turn off automatically hyperlinking links, and you will have to use the tags for images as well.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
