Evidence God Exists

Just curious.

He (like many) have ACTUALLY READ said scriptures. Tiger

You just can't get your head around the idea that maybe after critical evaluation of the bible

CP has thought to himself " what a load of rubbish!!"

No, it's got to be some sort of emotional drama etc, that has caused him to lose faith.

I simply cannot comprehend how anyone can look at the crap that is in the Bible and believe that it's true. Talking animals, a global flood that killed everything, a man losing his strength because his hair was cut, a river turning into blood, a sea being parted, people being turned into salt, a wall coming down because someone blew a horn, a virgin birth, a man walking on water and healing people with a touch of his hand, people coming back from the dead, and on and on.... These things are NOT BELIEVABLE! And yet, people believe with every fiber of their being that these things are true! What's really sad is that we have evidence to indicate that some of these things did not happen (for example, the geologic evidence proves that a global flood absolutely did NOT occur 4,000 years ago), but these ninnies will ignore the evidence and embrace a book written by goat herders. Just incredble...

God allowed 200,000 people to die in an earthquake. So what makes you think he cares about YOUR problems?

Yes, they do WANT to believe. They desperately want this nonsense to be true! It MUST be true! Consequently, they will toss reason and rationality out the window to defend their ridiculous beliefs. Because if what they believe ISN'T true, their whole life is meaningless!

This reminds me of a scene in the remake of "Planet of the Apes" when the gorillas discover that the "god" they had been praying to their entire lives was, in reality, a chimp on an experimental spacecraft. One of the gorillas turns to another and bellows, "Everything I've believed my whole life is a lie!". I recall wondering how many people in the audience didn't get the religious symbolism.

No, because to "devolve" within the context of evolutionary theory is a misnomer.

Life for better or for worse,
is varied and diverse.

Whoa, that was a deep thought. ;P

As an athiest, I take the position that there is no god, just as there is no santa, no bigfoot, no fairies, no ogres, no easter bunny, and no female complacency. However I do understand the idea of god, the concepts of divine morality, the concepts of heaven and hell, and I understand where they come from. But what most people have to understand, is that all people who believe aren't simply idiots..misinformed, yes, naive, yes, deluded, sometimes, but certainly not idiots. Deities have existed for as long as civilization itself has existed, even before then. Concepts of a higher power are ingrained into the very fibers of our being just as much as hate, greed, malevolence, and love. Our path thus far has been entwined with that of the religious, the believers. While it is my belief now that as a species we should have outgrown this ideal, it's understandable that it has held on thus far. Now i'll debate such beliefs vehemently, but I do understand them. I understand the faithful opposition.

I just wonder...given the information we now have of neurobiology, if these religious ppl are just drug addicts??

Just what is it that makes ppl (in the face of direct evidence) still cling to their faith??

Does it follow that they have higher serotonin levels AFTER going to their place of worship??

Just a thought
