My atheism tis of thee,
Sweet thought of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
In disbelief my fathers died!
Land of the skeptic's pride!
From every mountain side,
Let freedom ring!
Nah. I don't think that works either.

I have no allegiance but to my own standards of morality. However, if I must...
Te nunc invoco Mortem. Te in mea potestate defixi. Nunc et in aeternum.
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?

How about... "I agree that being an asshole isn't cool so I'll try not to be one?" Yeah. That might do it.

I think they would have been very confused if I recited that in school, with me not being American and all that...
But srsly, I'm not pledging my allegience to any country or state. If they fuck up, I'm not supporting them.

I pledge allegiance to the morals of the American Humanist Association,
and to the freedom from religious dogma, one nation in reality, indiscriminate, with equality, and knowledge for all.
If I were still in School(I graduated), this is what I would've said instead of the current one.
Do you think this is an improvement to the current pledge? Would you say it if you were still in School? If you are in school, do you think this would be a great alternative than having to say "Under God" every morning?

I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of saying things in unison
While being too young
To know what it means
One group of kids
Under god, the invisible
With this cadence-
Da da-dada
Da da-da da da
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay."
For context, this is the previous verse:
"Hi Jesus" -robvalue

Here in Europe we're not very into pledging anyway. Had enough pledging and flag waving in our past and two world wars to show for it.

Y'all don't even know. In my school, in mornings (unless you're in algebra, which I am little humble bragging there), you say this prayer, and then the pledge of allegiance, and then the no-bully pledge. Before lunch, we have to say grace. And before we leave school, we say this other prayer. It's immensely creepy, and the fact that most blindly accept and normalize it makes it even worse.
Don't even get me started on going to Mass.

Growing up, I went to a Christian school. Not only did we say our pledge of allegiance to the stars and stripes, but also to the "Christian flag":
It's pretty disturbing to me now to think that ANY adult would find it acceptable to force a classroom of six year olds to recite this everyday:

IanHulett, reciting something by rote is not for the thinking person - regardless of whether you agree with what you are reciting. When you do that, your mouth is moving and words are coming out but they aren't your words. You are an automaton or even worse, a puppet on a string. Pledges are brainwashing, pure and simple.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I'm not into chanting anything in the name of patriotism or nationalism, either. I think we should do away with it all. It's very Soviet era.
My daughter's kindergarten class says this instead of the pledge of allegiance.
"I pledge to be a leader, proactive in every way. I will learn all I can and think 'win win' today. I will work first and play later. I know it starts with me. I will live the seven habits, it's my destiny."
