Is Christianity based on older myths?

Yeahhhh...

No.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Are you saying that the followers of older religions knew their religions were false while they were practicing them? Why would someone invest their time and energy into a religion they felt was not real?

When the pantheon poobahs waved their hands and mumbled their mumbo jumbo, and then told the gathered Romans to go outside at dusk and look to the west and see the gods Venus and Mars and Jupiter, and then in a few weeks had cavorted into a different pattern across the sky, those Romans BELIEVED.

Throw in a lunar eclipse once in a while (which they could accurately predict in those days), experience the winds blowing, the crack of thunder and you had a religion that was demonstrably FACT.

At least as far as they could tell.

Where do you get your idea of Mithras and Osiris being myths to their adherents? For them they were as real as Jesus, who, as described in the bible, was as real a person as Roger Rabbit.

Lucky woman, to be able to date Roger. Or was she married? I forget.

I'd have thought, seeing the parallels, it would do.
