Fuck these creationists and new-Earth activists that demand evidence, then reject it because "my book says so." Welcome to the forum! I'd say it's much lower than 90%. Like many groups, especially large ones, you've got a vocal minority that gest a lot of media attention that makes it seem like they are typical representatives of the group when they are not. You are who i've been asking for: a regular Christian to balance out our fundamentalist contingent. I hope you don't mind arguing with other Christians, you're more likely to get a workout from Drich and Godschild than from us.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
Place bets on the time that will take for the christian persecution complex to be shown. Apologies OP, I have lost faith on the 'christian' descriptor.
Interesting point of view. Welcome! Glad to have you here.
I reject your reality and substitute my own!
Looks like a one-timer, but he ran without shitting. Strange.
Give him time. Maybe he'll come back.
It would be nice. RE: Christian- 90% of us suck

Tbh, I can't really find any evidence FOR God's existence other than the old reliable: If not God then how did [insert mysterious event] happen? I like to think that's the point though. If God proved his existence to you then what role is there for faith? I think a ton of the OT is metaphors and super hyperbole of things that happened so that they are more mythology than history. The NT is easier for me to literally believe, though the miracles can never be proven and require a leap of faith. In terms of my relation to God, I think that He created natural laws and forces and that, unless maybe in extraordinary circumstances, He doesn't interfere with them. This is how I explain the classic "why do bad things happen to good people?" There are natural processes that God doesn't disrupt, and sometimes bad things happen. I believe that miracles are possible, but are enacted through the existing laws and forces of the universe. Like the plagues of Exodus: I've researched it enough to know that every plague can be scientifically explained. Even the parting of the Reed (not Red) Sea can be explained by an incoming tsunami. However the odds of all of these things happening in rapid succession as Moses, with no knowledge of modern science, was warning Pharoah of them, is too little to be pure coincidence. That's how I believe God affects the world: indirectly through nature. I'll see if there are any more questions to answer. Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I was raised a Christian and as of yet I haven't been able to debunk the existence of God despite always exploring the atheist point of view. You can never prove it though. If I'd been born to atheist parents I 100% guarantee I'd be one too |
