Don't worry, I'll go in front of you...

RE: Thinking of death
I tried to off myself once, so I consider anything beyond that bonus years. I'm ready to check out at any time. Sure, I'd like to live longer now that I have kids, so I can be there for them and see them grow up. But I have no fear about the reaper coming, and sometimes I even look forward to it. Peaceful oblivion appears quite tempting when compared to this reality sometimes.

Mental illness can be a pretty good cure for fear of death.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Not exactly. I mean it really depends on which molecules you identify yourself with. All we are is just atom recyclers. About every 5 years every atom in you body is replace with another atom. So what are you really?

If you identify yourself with the atoms that currently make up your body then in 5 years you will be dead. The child that you remember being is dead now. All your memories of growing up are based on a different set of atoms.

Imagine you had 100 trillion years to explore the universe, coming to the end of that and realizing that you had only used up one second of eternity. No thanks. Death is what makes life so god damn beautiful. The bell rings for us all and when mine comes, it comes. Contemplating it only leads to sorrow.

Ha, that is you speaking, I intend to live forever Big Grin

I already will. Intending to do so just isn't enough. Wink
The truth is absolute. Life forms are specks of specks (...) of specks of dust in the universe.
Why settle for normal, when you can be so much more? Why settle for something, when you can have everything?

Well that one part of me will still grow finger nails and even hair after my death Big Grin that is kind of morbid but hey all good things come to and end.

But I like morbidity. It adds a nice realistic flavor to life. Without ugliness and sickness everything would be so sugar-coated it would have no meaning, IMO.

Couldn't agree anymore or any less but i do not see why people would want to believe in a lie or religion when the truth is well better than the lie its not more comforting like a place like heaven or a bad place like hell. Because well a eternal life or consciousness takes away from life being special.
